Since when did you become the arbiter around here?

You act like one of the biggest clowns on this site and then go around telling others to humble themselves 🤡

Geelong were almost as big of a rabble as St Kilda before you started cheating the system with the 'Costa Living Allowance' and free farmland rort. You're in no position to lecture anyone on anything
Geelong has 4 more flags and 7 more grand final appearances than Carlton this century from being a better run club. It's delusion to suggest otherwise.

If that helps you cope with it, then sure mate. In reality the truth is this: unlike Carlton, Geelong actually had competent people in charge of all relevant parts of recruitment and performance.
So were Carlton once upon a time, but every team goes through their ups and downs. Fortunately a club like Carlton have an army of loyal fans who stick by them through thick and thin regardless.

Some cheap shots from Geelong here. They are in their best ever era under Chris Scott, their best ever coach, with a return of 2 flags.

Scott era has been a master-class in club unity and pragmatic recruitment. A mediocre club (as in middling, not terrible) has maximised success recently. Same return as the Dank era, which had stacked f/s and [404 positive tests not found], and extraordinary sustained top 4 success.

Carlton has more money and clout but has wasted it in self destructive power games.

Carlton cant complain about being smashed for cap cheating, their 90s side flagrantly broke the rules with the printing companies etc, there simply has not been anything like it since.

Carlton got off lightly, and complaining the clubs was ruined by this is disingenuous: they did the crime, and they have failed to learn. Claiming "other clubs cheat too" is stupid, there has never been a cheat factory like Elliots Carlton.

Prior to that Carlton organised the country zone rorts which nearly sank the comp. Hawthorn and Carlton collected flags with lists stacked with talent, in a move designed to steal flags from Collingwood and to a lesser extent Essendon and Melbourne.

Men like Harris, Rice and Elliot set the tone. Arrogance, a disregard for rules and political protection from consequences made Carlton infamous.

Without the rorts Carlton would be on about 8 flags, basically Fitzroy territory. They don't actually have a tradition of earned success since WWII and it shows.

They have tried short cuts to success, buying in players and coaches, it worked with Barrassi but not with Pagan or MM.

Good signs under Sayers, and now Wright. However "not sacking the coach instantly" is minimum level professional behaviour. It doesnt guarantee finals next year, and they may have to go backwards to go forwards again.

Does Carlton have enough team people to keep on track, or will the old boys take power and use the club like a toy for their own personal games again?

Yep, the controversy and chaos it caused left the club in a state of disaster and bereft of quality leadership for close to two decades.
You have it the other way around. It's the clubs leadership that lead to the salary cap breaches in the first place which resulted in the penalties and fine.

That's just a matter of opinion. Under Gabbo's opinion of the calendar, Carlton have won 12 premierships this century

Charlie marks, plays on and kicks his 8th 17 gone in the first!
freed from desire plays
“Charlie’s on fire, Weitering is terrified”

It’s acknowledged Carlton will likely head backwards in ‘26 before turning around.

Likely a year of two will be needed to get this team contending in finals

Just picked up an apparently better player than weitering/silvagni/doull combined.

Sides will be too scared to kick the ball within 30 metres of him when entering the 50

Is this your opinion mate?

I think he'll be a beauty mate but i say that about all of them.
Hope he becomes captain and 300 gamer. No harm in having hope, and he's got pedigree and junior form on his side. F/S may be a lottery but its become a lovely thing, to see traditions carried on down the generations.

As fir hype, we went softly with Moore (" looks ok, might be a senior player"etc), and he "merely" became an AA and club captain. Nick Daicos OTOH absorbs hype and turns it into wins.

Maybe Dean will be your hype converter?

Peak Blues was 2022 and 2023.

More so 2023.

2024 2025 slipping out

2026 transition

2027 mini build

2028 good to go again

But Carlton was so 2023 tho.

Right in the flag window back then.

Ill say more in the window then both Collingwood and Brisbane.
