Ashes 25/26

Shane Lee was in the 1997 Ashes series as a mid-series injury replacement call up, and was in contention to play the 6th Test. But we overlooked him for Shaun Young
Stand corrected.

My basic point still stands though. This is a guy that averaged 39 with the bat and 40 with the ball in FC cricket. Whilst those stats do surprise me slightly I think he plays a lot of test cricket if the selectors were obsessed with bits and pieces cricketers.

Accurate use of DRS is essential nowadays, especially when you look at the records of some of the umpires who fit the neutrality requirement for this series:

they really need to get over this 'neutral' umpire stuff i think. is paul reiffel genuinely going to make a call leaning australia's way? in the age of DRS the best umpires ought to be umpiring the biggest series. you either back these guys to be neutral or you don't.

Sorry I'm late to the party
Look I'm no one eyed cricket lover (ex WACA member) 🤣 🤣

But, I'm all nostalgic about this cracker of an advert (thank me later) only 3mins worth: TURN IT UP LOUD !

Send it to all the POMS you know ;)

Excited now...yep 13 sleeps to go until First Test @ Perth

(apologies if someone has already posted this ) sorry not sorry - watch it again ffs

I think a lot of people are underestimating the Poms and it is dangerous to do so

This is a a completely different team and the loss of Cummins is massive

If these guys get a hold of Boland like they did in England we are in trouble
Don't get me wrong however I think we may get Cummins back in the 2nd test and let Boland take over the MCG again I hope that 2nd bowing innings of his was a absolute tear last Australian Ashes but I think our batting attack is weaker then our bowling attack but as long as we can try and get enough runs on the board we'll be fine but you're 100% correct we can't underestimate England at all but all in all I'm looking for a great and another controversial Ashes 🤣

Our batting is potentially vulnerable, but their best 2 bowlers are made of glass and the others while having nice attributes are unproven in our conditions. Same with their batters.
It won't be all one way traffic like it has been the last 3 home Ashes but I still back us to win 3-1 or 3-2 with Smudge, Head and Carey to score at least 400 runs each to hold our batting together and the bowlers will be too much for their bats especially in Perth and Brisbane.

I guess with 'Umpires Call' there is room for bias (or at least perceived bias) if a bunch of those 50-50 calls consistently go one way.

What about Khawaja he can score valuable runs for us when opening

Connolly has 7 50+ scores and is averaging 48 from his 14 First Class innings so far. Obviously a small sample size but its working pretty well for so far. I've seen you calling out Connolly's grip for ages now, yet every single time he gets to a chance to play shield he makes runs, despite the fact he still has barely got the chance to play back to back games. Give him a chance to breathe and play some more red ball cricket before completely writing him off, jeeze. Sounds more like you are death riding him to fail because his technique is not what you would coach yourself or consider the right way rather than actually watching what he he is doing. He's been excellent in the shield in the limited chances he has got.
Far from it but unless he’s an absolute freak he’s being ******ed by something that should have been fixed a long time ago and will be harder to fix now.

Their batting is excellent. Duckett, Root, Brook. Love any of them to be in the Aussie side.

Yeah chopped one on. Looked pretty good before that. Showed a bit of patience early on when he couldn't get anything away. Didn't mind chasing wide ones which is a bit of a worry but he hit the ones he chased pretty well.
Yep, he's deserved a chance, just picked the wrong time to make some low scores. A century in this match would have him in the Test team.
