You would think we won’t see a bid on Annable or Dean if the above goes through. 2 bids on the Suns kids would be in our interests to make sure we knock out pick 28,29 and 36.

I don't know. It makes sense if Sharp slides that far. Doesn't make as much sense if we're after Farrow.

If we get pick 9 you’d suggest pick 2 isn’t moving unless there is a F1 involved.

No, we lose pick 58 at the ring of the bell because we only have 5 main list spots. We would have lost pick 53 too.

Hutchinson was alright as a CBA mid. He was just very raw in that role.

This. Hutchinson cops a lot but he's coming from a long way back as a mature age prospect playing in an abysmal side.

If we get Duursma and CDT, I'm ok as long as we get a decent ball pig after that.

I think meltdowns over our recruiter and management are normal. If we'd drafted Jagga Smith last year a lot of this is moot.

Getting a F4 pick might be handy next year but probably not in all likelihood as it holds no points value and will be somewhere in the 60-65 range

It will be more useful though than holding pick 53 which was a few hours from vanishing into thin air along with pick 58

Number of list spots = Number of picks you can take into the draft

We have picks 1,3,13,34,41

Anything after that is forfeited

Once the draft starts clubs can collect as many picks as they like regardless of list spots but can only make as many selections as they have spots available

Edit: Should note that pick 58 which we’ll lose was the Hawthorn R3 pick we received from Hawthorn last year in exchange for our R4 pick as part of the Barrass trade. Makes that part of the trade essentially meaningless

He might have the potential to be an alright afl mid in the future but needs a good run in the pre season and WAFL to get there.

They are likely in the same position. Can’t afford to split the pick before the draft due to list postions

Cavanagh. Reasonable with the usual vic bias. I don’t think any of those are surprises, all are clubs with needs and make sense.

Adelaide trading out pick 11 to Adelaide or St Kilda for a F1 is good for us

It means they then need to convert 9 into more points which pick 13 and 34 gives them - especially when you consider that if the Dean bid comes after bids on the northern academy kids the trade is effectively pick 12 for picks 16 and 29 which is a net gain of 263 points for Carlton

If they keep pick 11 then they’re better off also retaining pick 9 as they’d get a late teens pick back in that scenario

Effectively Carlton can either have another latish R1 pick this year or roll the dice on either Adelaide or St Kilda for their R1 pick next year

Which club do you envisage paying extras for? A straight pick 11 (will become 15) for a F1 pick seems about right

I see Essendon reaching for a guy like Dovaston more I look at the list makeup. They legit have the worst set of small forwards of all time. I think Dovaston/Kako will be a good tandem of HF/midfield minutes. Dovaston will be in the team Round 1 too. Within the midfield they look to have a ton of bodies in the way. A midfield of

HF: Duursma, Durham, Fiorini
R: Bryan, Caldwell, Merrett

Then you got Parish, Martin, Perkins, Cox in that mix too as well as pick 5 who Id say is Cumming. Meanwhile up forward they got Gresham still floating around getting games most likely.... Dovaston seems perfect
