Tigers in Tasmania?

The embarrassment was playing at marvel.
We have a good contingent of richmond fans and a good amount of representation from Tasmania throughout our history who have played for us and still playing, for a couple yrs whilst we arent going to be competing for finals its a good thing to give back to our members and we get a financial reward for it.

Na it’s a disgrace same as pumping ourselves to cairns and Darwin was. We are no better than Norf or the dogs in the minnow stakes.

12 years after we were told to donate and never again have to sell home games we are back pumping ourselves to play home games on goat tracks chasing dollars over the chance to win

I also think by doing this, it might help when Tasmania comes in as the goodwill might be made that might reduce them from raiding our team or overpaying for certain players.

ROLF… now they aren’t going to raid our players co we pimped ourselves to take their money from their government for a couple of years? Dream on

We won 3 flags by doing it, afterwards so id happily do it again. I find it strange how you accept marvel which isn't our home ground but not being paid for playing at a different ground.

It's 2 years mate. Chill out. We finished 17th. We have facilities that need building.

If you're not 1st, you're last.

Brendan Gale supposedly came to us with this, having a good work relationship with other clubs is good, if there's an overpay on a trade or something it will be based on relationships, we dont want to form relationships like essendon and hawks have with eachother.

disgraceful day for the club. Deadset embarrassed to be a tigers fan today

Really? We are getting paid over a million dollars to play 1 less game at Marvel... and that helps pay for our facility upgrade which keeps us at Punt Rd. Talk about missing the big picture...

And I get to go and have a hit at 7 mile beach for a couple of years and then back to the G when we are in finals contention. All the while having to go one less time to that lifeless crappy indoor stadium with 12k of my closest mates who also hate the place. Winner winner.

If i was the club I'd have paid 1mil to not play at the concrete jungle, there's no soul or richmond people. It has to be the worst ground in Australia, put some air-conditioning in atleast ffs.

I couldn't disagree more. North and Dogs aren't rich. Richmond is No 1 in the AFL for revenue (125 mill) and 2nd richest with cash on hand (44 mill), only the Eagles have more.

We are smart, preserve our cash reserves. Now this redevelopment is going to cost 110 mill. We have 85 mill set aside. We will finance the last 25 mill along with corporate backers, and the 2.5 mill from the tassie gov helps towards that, money for jam.

For someone who goes to all games, MCG, Marvel, etc, it isnt the end of the world.
We are not contenting, so playing 2 games over 2 years in Tassie in place of Marvel is neither here nor there.

You beauty, what a great excuse to head down to Tassie, see a game, extend for a couple of days and enjoy some of the excellent watering holes in Salamanca Place.

Good decision by the club. The fact that building costs blew out significantly from the initial estimate to the start of the redevelopment left us with little choice.
There is no sense in doing a half-arsed job ie making cuts , this is a long term investment , that’ll pay off in spades over time.

Settle down junior , pro development owes us 100mn with money tight amongst the fans of course we will bloody well take up a deal at 1mn. A year , it’s damned good business , any better ideas

Minow status confirmed.

How the mighty have fallen.

I see what ya doing here Coach. You can't be a minnow when you have one of the biggest support bases.
We are No. 1 in the AFL for revenue and the 2nd richest club with 44 million in the bank, that's not the definition of a minnow ;)

If anyone should be upset, it's me who takes the family to Marvel, we'll watch our beloved Tigers anywhere.. I support this move as it's based purely on a business decision. Our facilities are going to be state-of-the-art.

Many of our fans detest Marvel, each to their own, I guess. It's only losing 1 Marvel game in 2026 and 2027, and by 2028, im hoping we have 11 home games at the G instead of 10 and 1 at Marvel.

happy with this 2 year agreement.
The cash is on the table...you pick up the cash.
We got a rich history with tassy and many loyal tiger fans that will be thrilled to see our boys.

My head went into overdrive when I heard the news, then I realized that it's only the Marvel games we are giving up. As for crowds, they will fill it up as Tassie is a big tiger country. Even the tassie devil will come out of hiding to watch us :)

How come? The fans dont show up and we play shit there usually.

Our home game at marvel we won against top 8 side.

Our game in Hobart we got our pants pulled down by 17th on the ladder to the tune of 12 goals.

Maximum capacity at Hobart is less than our crowd on the graveyard slot of the Easter weekend against a side with no Victorian support.

No doubt we have the biggest bandwagon fan base in the league who refuse to show up when things aren’t entirely on their own terms but that doesn’t make pimping ourselves to Tassie less embarrassing

Why not sell every home game for money. Who cares about fans or wins or soul… all far less important the the mighty dollar. We can be the richest minnows in the league
