There were draft based podcasts that had Jackson firmly in their top 2/3 from the end of the Championships.Melbourne ''reached'' for Oliver at pick 5. They reached for Jackson at 3 and Pickett wasn't even in Thomey's August top 30 before they picked him at 12. They also reached for Windsor.
Melbourne are often given a C rating or worse the day after a draft.
In reality, they pick who they want and don't worry about any general concensus.
It was reported that they rang the Giants and said unless they traded up they were going to bid on Harry . (We had next pick)Harry's Dad was on the Swan's list, played under Kinnear (who he did rate), and Buckenara (who he didn't) without notching an AFL/VFL game mostly due to injury, Phil Rowston also played under Les Parish, a known entity in the AFL at that time. Harry a bit of a jet as a junior and played quite a bit in front of Swans connections, which is to say Swans were more taken with Harry's quality + his connection to the club than them trying to one-up their derby rivals from what I understand.

Not really I think itās just a deal that works for both clubs. Points farming, then Blues can turn 13 into Adelaideās F1 or however they want to go about it.
I would not match a bid on Williams before pick 34. Good player but incredibly overrated by journos who have simply looked at his combine results, got a boner and havenāt seen him play a single game in the flesh.
Hutch almost certainly still a Cat A rookie.
33 main list
4 Cat A
1 Cat B
Champion (Cat B) likely to be moved to Cat A. Robertson and pick 1 in the rookie draft likely to join him. This leaves a spot for Charlie Banfield and an SSP signing. One will be Cat A, the other (or Robertson) will be on the main list.
Evans and Walley are likely to be added as Cat Bs if not bid on.
That deal in my view stands alone regardless of the Dean shenanigans but as I mentioned earlier we could do the Blues a massive solid by bidding on GCS kids and Annable. Thanks for the detailed reply.
I suppose it could work for Carlton that way i suppose it depends on if they really think you will bid on Dean or its a bluff.
I like williams-at his best he has real class that a lot of the players in this pool lack (and his combine results will help because they show how high his ceiling could be) but he is really inconsistent (I feel like thats a theme for this draft) so i can see both views on it.
If you trade 34 (say with carlton) would you still only match him about the second round?
I couldn't work your numbers out because I couldn't work out if guys like Hutchinson and magic were senior listed or not.
Is it senior list 38 minus Allen McGovern sheed Chesser hunt ryan petrucelle and jamieson plus young starcevich and a rookie elevation is 33?
Say your 54 moves into 48 after Sunsx2, Bris and Carl bidsThat deal in my view stands alone regardless of the Dean shenanigans but as I mentioned earlier we could do the Blues a massive solid by bidding on GCS kids and Annable.
If we trade 34 and 41 yes I would match Williams with the 54 (into mid 40s) coming back and carry the deficit into next year provided it was a 2R bid. I would not match a 1R bid under any circumstance.
Hutch rookie, Maric senior (or vice versa but unlikely) and yes the numbers include all of those you have mentioned.
13 & 15 for ?Not at all keen on the whispers of 2 for 5 + 15. Absolute stinker imo
What13 & 15 for ?
Ticky009Who are the mods on the D&T board?? Feel free to tell me to bugg3r off, but a polite suggestion...on the Blues board we have a rumour - no discussion thread....I think this might work here... this thread inevitably turns into a parallel general draft thread
If you got 15 in that trade, would Carlton (or someone else) be interested in trading 13 & 15 for 9. I was speculating that it might be able to be packaged with 13 to move up. Sorry, I realise now it was poor communication- basically cryptic. Was clear in my head thoughWhat
.Ohhhh. Yeah Iād assume the play would be to then throw maybe one of them and extra to Carlton for 9 and the other to the highest bidder for future assetsIf you got 15 in that trade, would Carlton (or someone else) be interested in trading 13 & 15 for 9. Carlton would have to give up their F2, which I don't see happeningIf you got 15 in that trade, would Carlton (or someone else) be interested in trading 13 & 15 for 9. Melbourne's 7 if they are interested in Pickett and someone else in that range. This would also cost them an F2.13 & 15 for ?
I've been following Schubert for the last 3 years as he plays for my local side (with Sharp) and have seen him live probably 25-30 times, and apart from absolutely MASSIVE feet, I can assure you he is not clumsy. Ungainly, yes but not clumsy. Superb contested mark, has had some truly dominant games as a forward ripping them apart. Good at getting in front as a forward and plays smart football, very mobile, capable of roaming and marking up the field but has a knack of getting separation in slow or fast plays. Can chop out in ruck, has a big tank and can even go back (but I think he's better forward). Kicking action probably his true weakness but overall accuracy has not suffered too much. Whilst you do need mids, you sure as hell need a KP forward to help out JVR as well as Jefferson won't cut it. I hope the crows get him, would be a formidable twin tower attack with Filthy.yeah no. the guy is clumsy. i'd love to know how many of the players you even seen live. if at all. Youre making assessments based off what, cal twomey and some youtube clips. good lord
Having not watched him in his underage year it looks from the stat sheet that at u18 level his scoring accuracy has signifcanlty decreased to the tune of -20% this year. Is that down to just volume?I've been following Schubert for the last 3 years as he plays for my local side (with Sharp) and have seen him live probably 25-30 times, and apart from absolutely MASSIVE feet, I can assure you he is not clumsy. Sounds like youāve made your assessment based on watching YouTube clips and Cal danster168appreciate the reply.
Yeah, we absolutely do need a key forward but I hate taking key forwards in the first round. You just look at Weideman and Jefferson. Jefferson was also a 195cm agile, contested marking juggernaut that became a flop. I don't want a key forward that's an unco kick. Melbourne is already the worst accurate team in the league. Adding a guy who stutter steps walking in to goal just puts me off big time. Obviously, he could turn out to be a jet. but he could also turn out to be a flop.
All games this year he went at 62% which is very goodHaving not watched him in his underage year it looks from the stat sheet that at u18 level his scoring accuracy has signifcanlty decreased to the tune of -20% this year. Is that down to just volume?
57% this year and 74% last year in SANFL u18s across 13 and 11 games each were the basis of the questionAll games this year he went at 62% which is very good
If he went at 82% the year before thst would be remarkable and id say maybe a sample size error or outlier
Carlton dont have an F2 im pretty sureCarlton would have to give up their F2, which I don't see happening

Or an F3Carlton dont have an F2 im pretty sure
Or an F3
Well assume he didnt play much other footy than u18s sanfl last year57% this year and 74% last year in SANFL u18s across 13 and 11 games each were the basis of the question
