All it means is video games can't use it without it being identified with him. He can't sue some player in a league doing it. People lose their minds over weird shit.

Yeah, Cole said he pinched it off him. They are mates from their City academy days.

Drogba was doing it before both of them though and im sure he wasn't the first.

Apparently it won't stop other players or fans doing the shiver celebration, but he will be the only who can make money off it being in promotional material etc.

Well yeah, its just to stop others from profiting off him without his permission. Just preventing commercial misuse over something he has made iconic from doing it so many times and in some big moments. He's not stopping anyone else from doing it.

Surprised a few get offended by stuff like this.

What I said above, yes.

Don’t think anyone’s getting offended but it’s just a celebration at the end of the day, who cares if it’s used by others or in games.

Someone above suggested it was cringe, seems some have an issue with him trademarking it?

This conversation started by someone getting offended by it.

He's just trying to protect his brand that hes building.

From the NY times about this

“Cristiano Ronaldo, for example, trademarked his name, CR7 initials and 'Siuuu' celebration, while Kylian Mbappe trademarked his goal celebration as well as his name, initials and two quotes 'Le football, il a change' (football has changed) and 'Moi, tu m'parles pas d'age' (you don't talk to me about age).”

If you look deeper, there are probably lots of footballers who have done the same as Cole Palmer.

Sounds like Luis Suarez needs to trademark his teeth.

I find it pretty funny he is claiming ownership for something he didn’t invent, others did before him and others continue to do.

Just my opinion. I think Ronaldo’s celebration is pretty embarrassing too.
He's not claiming ownership though(anyone can do it), its just to stop commercial misuse.

If FIFA or whoever put it as a celebration in their game, who cares, it should just be treated as a homage if they did.

A celebration is not worth anything. Not like little kids would be like, Mum please get me the new FIFA game for the Cole Palmer celebration
