Cheers.

I have no problem at all in putting +20% on Cody’s value for the brotherly thing such is the height I value Dan.
A late pick is one well spent imo.
Know nothing of Thredgold except that he is not related to the old Panther rover 😉 .
Different spelling Threadgold (Ian) Thredgold (Blake)

That’s unbelievable considering about 80 will be taken max. That’s a lot of players miles off it that think they have some chance.
SANFL clubs (as an example) deal in false hope

They bring all their 100+ of their Under 15 metro & country squad players and parents in and outline what they need to do to be drafted. Eg never miss a training session, quit all of your other sports now, nutrition, fitness etc. Do this to give yourself the best chance.

They do this knowing there's maybe zero to 3 kids tops from that group who are any chance whatsoever to be drafted purely on their physical characteristics, let alone football ability.

But that false hope gives the SANFL clubs unfettered access to their players and helps them fill their U18s and in time reserves and league teams which is why they do it

Sharp in the media is basically begging Essendon to take him.

The number 1 south Australian talent being a fan of Victorian team also means if drafted by a Victorian clubs less likely to return home.
Interesting. Cause my nephews play at Barossa Districts. Sharpy has sat with us at crows games wearing crows gear. Must be trying to mesh in with the crowd.

I did wonder - if the Crows were in a position to draft him - whether his tune would change and he'd be a bit more positive of his home side.

Essendon could be interested and hold the right pick, so he's maybe just campaigning to get selected, like Holland did a few years ago.

Until he comes to the same conclusion as their captain...

Yes, i think it's a case that he thinks he will end up at Essendon so he saying the right thing.

Note he also said he was happy to play for any AFL team, but that didn't get the headlines.

But its also a great thing for boys to aspire to make SANFL U18's, then reserves and then league if they can. Its still a great level even if they can't make AFL.

and to charge them 6-700 per season each for the privilege - don’t forget that little chestnut

Not worth sacrificing every other aspect of their lives though, when they'd reach that level anyway

Every player would love to go to the team they support. Im still not convinced it will play out that way for Dyson though. Feel like he makes it past Essendon's picks

Yes, i think it's a case that he thinks he will end up at Essendon so he saying the right thing.
I played footy with his old man and have known the family for many years. Dyson is absolutely a Bombers supporter but that means little these days. Most players don’t get to the club they support. He will be great for which ever club he ends up at. A few months back I had heard that West Coast had shown a lot of interest in him

Twomey mentioning us for Dovaston, Taylor, Marsh, Nairn and Thredgold at this stage (purely as prospects and positional need aside - I like all of them as prospects)

Nairn being mentioned again as a potential top 10 selection for Melbourne

Offhanded comment, but Nairn might be this year's Murphy Reid type prospect - won't ever win a 20m sprint or blow you away with his speed and explosiveness, but seems to always produce (in part related to his footy IQ). Specifically for Nairn too - in both u18's and SANFL - has shown he can impact/produce across different parts of the ground and game. I've previously written about him on here - so won't go into more detail.

Phillipou seems like he may slide too - Twomey saying pick 20 onwards at this stage

Bit of Jake Lever?
A lot more explosive athletically than Jake was, and appears to have a fair bit more physical size and muscle than Jake did as a draftee

Jake also tended more towards being a backman who read the play, intercepted and set up play (which he has been good at). Shutting down his opponents was a bit more of a second priority.

Thredgold has showed he can do both as a junior - play primarily shutdown, but can also play 2nd/3rd tall up and intercept/mark very effectively

Lever was a better kick and better decision maker coming out than Thredgold too - I'd rather have Lever setting up play or giving a release kick coming out the backline than Thredgold with where Thredgold is currently at with that aspect of his game

Twomey mentioning the following:
  • Marsh, Sharp, Thredgold, Taylor, Barker as prospects that we might be in the mix for
  • Carlton's picks 9 and 11 - looks like we only trade into one of them on the night if we find out a player we like will definitely be there. Other clubs have shown interest in trading into these picks too though
  • Thinks we only move up from 16 if the deal is right. Thinks we don't use a F1 to move up - any potential deal would have a F1 off the table
