This was my attempted simulation, including some live trades, though I think I gave us a late pick from North that might not be active on the night.

I think this is something that could actually happen, but I'd expect Essendon to maybe trade ahead of the Sweid bid (perhaps with us instead of North?).

But yeah, if we think a bid won't come until Melbourne, game on for trading up, as an Ison bid is probably coming after 25.

What did we give up in your trade to get Richmond's second pick?

Bombers and Pies have some interest in pick 9 but there’s hasn’t been as much interest as we thought in pick 9. A bid at pick 3 for Dean would be troublesome for us, the ideal scenario is a bid around pick 7 with our first pick absorbing that bid and our second pick sliding back. No clubs are offering future firsts for our 2 picks. - Cal Twomey on Gettable.

so potentially then live trading on the night if a player is available that other clubs are interested in

Just like the cold November Rain, the draft reminds us - nothing lasts forever, not even that prospect’s availability

I see this highly likely and playing out like this:
Bombers bid on Dean with 2nd pick
We have Lindsay & Dovaston available

Melbourne could obviously pick either Dov or Lind with one of their picks instead of Schubert.

A good outcome for us either way IMO

That’s not what they said.
They said nobody is offering F1s.
With the Saints wanting the draft Jevan Pou we could move up to GCS pick then we could send them that pick within his range for the STKs F1 then on trade that i know its not much but its an idea

It seems if a bid comes in at 6-8, we'll have several decent options. Slide 11 back a few spots or get a good deal for 9 (likely F1) as clubs try trade up for the right player.

Trouble is if a bid comes early, both those options might be off the table. Clubs probs not willing to sacrifice an F1 to trade up blind while if we let 11 slide it likely goes into the 20s where it might be gobbled up by an Ison bid.

Westcoast and Richmond can really stuff us if they want to.

We can't even give in to Westcoasts blackmail to trade 9 for points as it's a useless trade unless we have a club agreeing to trade 11 for an F1, which they might not be willing to at that point.
