Given our respective lists, we can blow you out of the water! We could probably match what you could offer but there are some massive war chests out there we certainly couldn't. But for lifestyle, club professionalism and success we got you guys on toast. If he wants really big bucks, then he signs an extension with us and then grabs the Devils 1m sign on bonus plus a contract of 2-2.5m a year.
Can’t win 3 peats elsewhere thoughGiven our respective lists, we can blow you out of the water!
Whilst rebuilding our list we have been front-loading most of our young talent to longer deals, keeping plenty of cap space.
Also, we are one of a few clubs that doesn't build the AFL cap CPI into player contracts... so got a massive benefit when the AFL massively increased the cap.
Does Zac want to leave millions on the table by remaining a Lion? If he hasn't re-signed early next season, reckon he is as good as gone.
He can make more money & play for a finals side...
You will be pleased to know Zac is still playing for the Lions next season... but may be his last. Can’t win 3 peats elsewhere though

Being next door to his mother who hasn't been in the best of health and his brother who reside in Adelaide now can influence his decision besides the money. You don't seem to understand my point. He can get way more elsewhere if money is his motivation now. I don't think you even make the finals next year with a much harder draw and no improvement to your fragile midfield. If money is his goal after two premierships, you guys aren't even in top five suitors in terms of war chests. A rise in the salary cap lifts all ships.
Reid has been shit with selecting 1st rounders until from 2020. Mind you, he also selected Worrell with pick in the 30s in 2019 so probably has been good since 2019 (2018 was a completed bust by him though) and has continue to be good with getting Ah Chee for nothing this year (more so thanks to Brisbane than him lol).
You mean around 430k was our offer? and he's gone for 650k... it makes sense but you know our offer better than we do - so I'll go with what you've posted.
But if you pay him a million each for first 2 years - wouldn't that make him question why he should play for like 415k for last 3 years as the other poster said? Seems low to me when average salary would be like 550-600k somewhere...
Frontloading is a risk. We got Gibbs purely because he hit the low end of his heavily frontloaded contract. You need to be careful the characters you pay up front. I doubt Ah Chee will do a Gibbs, but it’s definitely a possibility.
Hope it works out for your mob, no one will come near a $1.4M commitment even for the first year.

Our draw won’t be much harder. We doubled up against Pies, Hawks and Suns, that probably won’t get harder. Port will be better and Roos/Eagles will change to mid table sides that we beat comfortably away anyway. So I don’t think our draw will look theoretically harder once it’s released.
In terms of motivation, has anyone suggested it’s solely about money? Isn’t it a combination of Adelaide the city and money? Sure, he could probably eke out an extra $100k/year at rabbles, but they still practice responsible list management. No club is paying him much more than we are.
Where I agree is that we’ll be unlikely to get near 18 wins next year. We’re more likely to play that defensive style with expectations of top 4 from round 1. And more clubs will tweak their style to expose our deficiencies week to week.
Counting down the days until Cal Ah Chee is officially an Adelaide Crow.

10th spot now is in with a finals shot with the new wildcard system..I don't see us dropping outside the top 8 either but we won't get near 18 H&A wins imoYou don't seem to understand my point. Finally reality bites,
Interesting you only got involved when you could count the days on your fingers.![]()
I'm glad Cal is going to get paid. He's won premierships in his prime and now he can make his money elsewhere. He wasn't going to get $700k/year at Brisbane.
