Rd 1 Friday Night
Easter Sunday Night
ANZAC Day
Dreamtime at the G
Kings Birthday Eve

All in the first half of the season. So much for being off broadway!
Ah yes. When it was leaked that Essendon were moving off prime time, that of course meant that the AFL was going to move them off ANZAC Day and Dreamtime.

I think Round 7 is ANZAC Day in 2026. That would be pretty cool too.

Or Collingwood will have an early season bye and play Carlton in Round 8.
Thats probably the latest I have seen ANZAC day round be scheduled. Usually its either Rnds 5 or 6.

Last two have been R7. I think it’s because ANZAC Day is in the Thursday-Sunday slot at the moment which means it falls into the following round. Whereas when it’s Monday-Wednesday, it falls into the previous round.

Nah Monday would likely be R7 as well

We will have an early bye after playing in the Opening Round. If Pendles plays all games ANZAC Day will be when he equals the record and our next game will be when he breaks it.

Looks like that's when we're playing each other then. The only question is whether it'll be Friday or Saturday night.

They'll have a contingency plan for Pendles missing at least 1 game so expect big prime time MCG clashes for Collingwood for 2 weeks after ANZAC Day. (yes, yes, that's every week for Collingwood, I know)

Friday night double headers are stupid. Who wants 1/3 of the games done before the weekend starts?

On the positive if the first game is rubbish you don't have to watch a game that's terrible

Crazy isnt it. We get a friday night showdown but have to go up against a game on in victoria on free to air while ours is the foxtel match. A showdown deserves a stand alone slot.

The Friday showdown should be on free to air on 7 in SA. The other states will have the Western Bulldogs v Fremantle shown on 7.

It's the same here with the Swans Giants derby on the Friday, the local game will be on channel 7 in NSW/ACT while the other states will have the Geelong v Western Bulldogs game shown on 7.

At least that's how it was broadcast for the doubled-up games on Friday this season.

When a team like North Melbourne gets only one FTA game in the first 15 rounds, having the showdown hog the FTA broadcast nationwide is an insane suggestion. The people who care most about those teams will see it on FTA in their state.

Victorian fans don’t have that luxury.

So a combination of Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn and Geelong. Geelong would be a nice touch given it’s the opponent he’s played the most finals against.

The Prelim Finalists from the year before, should get the lions share of Prime time games. Brisbane, Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood should be the main attractions next year. Adelaide, Gold Coast, Fremantle and GWS should have the next rung bellow. Carlton and Essendon should be off broadway completely.
