2026 Fixture Discussion - Release is Nigh

We've already been told through our memberships that we were getting 12 'home' games, so playing Geelong away twice would've made the fixture a little weird(er).

The 12th “home” game is North Melbourne’s purchased game at Optus.

Nothing to do with Gather Round.

I understand that. What I as getting at, was that we're only going to be having 11 games away from Optus this season and it would be an odd fixture choice to have two of those 11 games against the same team.

By the same token, Geelong will probably only have six or seven games outside Victoria so it would be odd to have two of them against us.

True. Although now that I think about it, it did happen for Carlton last year. So there's the chance we may still have to travel to alphabet stadium too.

Looks like Friday night games planned, if we didn’t get a double parked one doubt we have any.

Derby is the week after Gather Round so it's likely that one of the WA teams won't have to do two interstate games in a row. Hopefully it's us.

Games at Optus:
Rd 1: none
Rd 2: WC, Freo
Rd 3 (Easter): WC?
Rd 4 (Gather Round): none
Rd 5: Derby
Rd 6 (Anzac Day): Freo

We had the first derby last year, so in theory it'd be Freo's turn to host the first one this year. If that's the case (and assuming they get Anzac as usual), then it'd have to be us at home in round 3, otherwise by the time you get to round 6, Freo would have had four home games to our one. Giving us the round 3 game evens things out a bit at two for us and three for them - however it would mean a three week gap in home games for Eagles members between rounds 3 and 7.

I saw on reddit that the fixture is now visible on the AFL live app. A Quick Look shows we have a double up against north which is cool

North port dockers giants pies tigers we play twice. 2 games at the MCG and 4 at marvel with only 2 trips to the east coast in round 1 and round 23. Avoid heading down to GMHBA again you take
3 top 8 teams seems tough for a 1 win team.

Richmond by a Quick Look get 1 teh Crows
