We will play North Melbourne twice at Optus Stadium next year
Both teams should he on the up, hopefully us more so.
North were competitive in their Bunbury/Optus field trip last year so will hold no fear or loss assumptions.

We absolutely need to get back to a strong home ground side.

6th hardest fixture.

Formula: The top team from last year (home and away season) is assigned 18 points. Moving down the table, each team is then assigned one less point, with the team that finished last worth 1 point. Each team's matchups for the season are then combined, with the opponents' points tallied. The tally shows which team has the most difficult draw based on how well teams performed last year.

Saints with 5th easiest. Awesome.

Only thing I hate is the Sunday games, bad team tax in effect.

Worrying about double up games should be well down the list of priorities, most games will be tough for a developing team regardless.

Don't hate it.

North x 2, Richmond, Essendon, Port all at home. Run home after the bye is tough but let's be honest we are unlikely to be in finals contention anyway. If by some miracle we are say 7-7 at the bye I would still expect us to fall away and only win 8 or 9 as other teams around that mark will have had much harder starts.

If we can get to the bye with 3-5 wins and a % over 80 I will be happy. Wins even if they are against other cellar dwellers build confidence. We can't afford another awful start to a year. 2025 3 x 10 goal losses in the first 5. 2024 a 50 point loss and two 10 goal losses to start. 2023 started 1-1 with a 5 point loss then a win over GWS but all fell apart after that with no competitive margins between Rd3 and Rd 15. Etc.

We did lose to Essendon and Richmond at Optus this year and North in Bunvegas. If we drop our "easy" games we will likely finish games clear on the bottom again.

Finishing the season at home v Hawthorn is giving me 2019 vomits 🤢
Losing a game that costs us a top 4 spot is a problem I can only dream of us having in 2026

I'll get around to checking out Pies, Tigers, Hawks etc fixtures to see how few genuine away games they have - just so I can go outside and shout at clouds!
