They’ll bid on the player at pick 1 if they know the nominated club doesn’t have the picks to match
I think that's very wishful thinking. You can demolish an opponent's draft hand, by bidding at 1. That's big incentive for an opposition club. Much more incentive than getting your draftee an extra 10k.
If Cochrane and Cody are standouts one of them will get the bid. Also, depending on what they do with the bidding system, whoever has top pick could actually grab either player, if the club tied to them can't match.
My Preference is for: Dovaston, Pickett, Grlj, Farrow, Marsh or Lindsay
DO NOT want Uwland or Annable under any circumstances.![]()
Port will have the 3 Butters picksI think it’s good news too.
But I also think it may have a negative side too given Port will now be hunting more picks in the same way we are, so it’s good we got the jump on them with Sydney’s first.

Hopefully after bids on a couple of academy players first making it around pick 6 or 7.According to a post on the D&T Board, the Tiges have told their coteries that they will bid on Dean if West Coast don't.

Really makes no sense from a list build perspective after taking Trainor last year and having plenty of talls.According to a post on the D&T Board, the Tiges have told their coteries that they will bid on Dean if West Coast don't.
So Tiges bidding just for fun i presume? I reckon the AFL should impose a point deduction for having the right to bid for a player not attached to them. Kind of like buying a lottery ticket to be able to enter into a race or chance to win something. Nothing major but enough for a deterrent for fake bids. And if they get the player if comes off the total of the points.
Every Richmond supporter I’ve spoken to about Dean and bidding, still drags up the Chris Yarran trade as “proof” we’re bad-faith operators. It’s like mate… that was a decade ago under a different regime, and you’ve won three drought-breaking flags since then. They are feeling aggrieved that Cody Walker did the worst thing to them and chose his father’s club. Pricks.

Particularly since they poached Yarran

Why?So looks like the Dovaston dream is over![]()
Doesn’t a Richmond bid on Dean rule us out with our picks getting eaten up?Why?
Also means that you may not have enough points to match Ison if Tigers bidDoesn’t a Richmond bid on Dean rule us out with our picks getting eaten up?
Our second pick gets moved down. A Richmond bid still could be around pick 6Doesn’t a Richmond bid on Dean rule us out with our picks getting eaten up?
