Because Saints and Crows will probably pay the same for either pick provided the player they want is available. Noise is saints want Pou, presume Crows would look at any of the highly rated SA kids, that’s not to say either don’t have an interstate target.
Yeah but i think its more about what Carlton want and not what suits the others
their pick #9 is the pick in demand and generates the most value.

eagles should jump at it

Cos it means Richmond skipped on one of them
Essendon will get two of Sharp, Cumming, Robey and Taylor.
A great place to be picking.

I’m tipping XTaylor and Sharp will be available to them there if they want them, and with their leadership qualities would both be great picks.

Looking at the news, I've got the following (open pool only):

1 WCE Duursma
2 WCE Duff-Tytler
3 RIC Sharp
4 RIC Cumming
5 ESS Robey
6 ESS X.Taylor
7 MEL Grlj/Farrow
8 MEL Nairn
9 ESS Dovaston
10 HAW Grlj/Farrow

Essendon would be very happy with that.

Feel they go Sharp though. They need a gun mid and they need leadership even more. Sharp bleeds red and black and would forfill his dream if he went to the Bombers.

The Carlton situation is probably the most interesting of the entire draft
They have literally been placed between a rock and a hard place with their picks and where the dean bid is expected to come and along with the Walker father son in 2026 it actually has stitched them up.

Do they trade out or just ride the wave and deal with what ever happens organically
If they had another pick in the 20's then trading #9 + #11 for #4 + #38 would be their best choice but with only 38,43,53
that really kicks them in the guts for the Walker bid in 2026 and would be a massive blow. I doubt they consider that risk

Im thinking a trade with melbourne could appeal to both clubs
#9 for F1+#37 gives Carlton security for Walker next year and allows them to go into deficit whilst getting #37 assists this year. Benefit for Melbourne is they get 7-8-9 all in a row and can select players like Grlj - Nairn - Dovaston
or maybe even Sharp if he is available at that range
Yeh your right, there was a reason richmond didnt work

There is the deficit option if they could get 3x 1st

Essendon i can believe.

North dont have enough currency to get 11 unless they use their future 1st and they wouldn't do that again (25 and 26 isnt enough for 11).
I would say someone like adelaide or St kilda is more likely to come for 11.

What Carlton would like to do is trade 9 and 11 out for extra future 1sts and then try and use one of those to trade back in after they match the bids. This will be tricky though as clubs don't want to sell future picks next year.

Im thinking

Ess In: 9,43,46,54
Ess Out: 21, 27, 30

5. Robey/Cumming
6. Farrow
9. D.Sharp

Nah Carlton need those late points with ison and the points would need to favour them.
It would be something like 9 and 54 for 21 27 and 30.

North and Blues deal is heard to be 11 and 56 for 25, 46 and F2.

That's a poor deal for Carlton. While next years draft is a better pool thats light on not getting any top 20 picks back.
They would be better off to trade with another team.

North weren’t in this a few days ago, allegedly. More likely Carlton aren’t getting the offers they hoped. Got to remember North were pretty much a guaranteed top 5 pick this year and they dangled it until the 20’s when Richmond took it last year. This is just the reverse side of that, the later first round didn’t all of a sudden get more valuable.

Then that would mean the bombers dont intend to take Sweid and the other academy players
Yep.

It’s been reported in the last week that we’re no certainty to take them.

I heard/read Carlton are surprised by the lack of interest in their picks, think they might have been banking on a much hotter market
