Makes sense that Taylor/Robey/Dovaston were all at the hangar together yesterday though. Along with the rumour the tigers want cumming
They are all Eastern Rangers boys and probably had a contact there, no one is doing it that public. Taylor is a Tigers nuffie and by the sounds of it wouldn’t be doing anything to stuff up going there.

If I’m reading that right

Carlton get - 21,27,30 from Essendon for pick 9 which is an extra 353 points and pick 25 plus North’s F2 for pick 11 which is a loss of 615 points

All up a net loss of 262 points - equivalent to pick 39 but they get Norths F2 which would be mid 20’s at worst

The total points Carlton have with those picks 21,25,27,30 is 2298 which would cover a bid at pick 2

Good business from Carlton tbh

As a comparison for us to bundle up 13,34,41 would have fallen 48 points short of Essendon’s picks

Essendon now have 5,6,9

North have 11,26,46 but no F2

We now have the 13th pick in the open pool (17th overall) which kinda sucks

West Coast - Duursma
West Coast - CDT
Richmond - Robey
Richmond - Taylor (X)
Essendon - Sharp
Essendon - Cumming
Melbourne - Nairn
Melbourne - Farrow
Essendon- Dovaston
Hawthorn- Grlj
North - Schubert
GWS - Taylor (O)
West Coast from
• Lindsay
• Marsh
• Hibbins-Hargreaves
• Barker
• Addinsall
• Pickett

On a brighter note - picks 15,17,18,21,23,24,25,27,28,29,30 are all likely to come off the board due to bid matching meaning picks 34 and 41 potentially come into 27 and 34

Pick 18 - Bulldogs
Pick 19 - Adelaide
Pick 20 - Geelong
Pick 21 - Fremantle
Pick 22 - Hawthorn
Pick 23 - North Melbourne
Pick 24 - Sydney
Pick 25 - Sydney
Pick 26 - Western Bulldogs
Pick 27 - West Coast

Means we might get a pick in before a Williams bid or alternatively still have a pick around mid to late 30’s after a match
I will laugh my arse off if no-one bids on Dean until pick 12.

Both Gold Coast and Carlton chose not to deal with us which means they found offers they preferred but I imagine it also means they probably thought we are all bark and no bite.

Time to make them cough up for their boys and maybe next time they will think twice when dealing or not dealing with us. Do nothing and they were completely vindicated ignoring us.

Sometimes even when losing a message must be sent.

This is why I wish we had extra list spots because moving down from 13 would be the play here to get 2 of those guys.

Especially when the Blues are likely in the same position next year.

I suspect Carlton know we're bluffing with the early Dean bid so chose not to deal with us. I hope we bid on him with 2 anyway.

Exactly.

If they are forced to cough up for Dean this year and then have to consider us nominating Walker next year they won’t be so arrogant to assume we won’t call his name.

Worst case we end up with Dean. Sweet. he’s a gun, happy to take him.

Fukn hell why is it never us that does these deals

Both deals were better than we could have offered

To move from 13 to 9 would have cost us 34 and 41 and the ability to match a Williams bid

North sold their F2 to move from 25 to 11, that’s better than us putting up 34 and our F2

By doing nothing our R2 picks have both moved 4 spots higher up the order due to this trade, albeit that our pick 13 can’t move a couple of places like it could have had Carlton held their picks

They were always taking Trac and making sure it got done

But today’s I’m not sure if like in past years they had the under the table handshake deal not to bid on Dean.

Why should we? To move up from 13 would have cost us live picks (eg pick 34) and this deal with Carlton's picks would see us move up a handful of spots later in the draft.

Fine with doing nothing.

We might be perfectly happy with our current picks?
Reports have been we have been trying to trade up, through trade week and still to this week. Cal and Herald Sun both reported it and Cal like reporting Wednesday that the Dons had entered the race for pick 9 is usually pretty accurate.

Let's be honest, this board would melt if our pick 2 was used on Harry Dean. Dangerous gamble.

It is astounding that a list as poor as ours is struggling for list spots. Part of the club's issue over the past 5 years or so is that we havent been ruthless enough. You see the players other sides delist and often they are far better players than the ones we keep on with seemingly blind faith - only to delist in a year or two anyway.

I mean even a poor list in Port delisted Ryan Burton. There is a good chance he'd be in our starting 23....

This draft we were always going to struggle as we have turned over close to 30 plays in the past 3 years.

We needed to upgrade some rookies who are comiing along nicely.

If Ryan and Allen didnt leave we would have been cutting decent players. Cripps likely nit retained. Jack Williams would be gone too.

Its the 5 NGA's and 1 father son all later picks / talents that have caused a squeeze. Which is a good posituon to be in.

Will Wes Walley get drafted?
