You either want a gut runner who sacrifices his game to play fat side, outside player with pace and good kick to play an attacking link up role or a junkyard dog stopper just to lock someone down

It’s a waste of Smillies attributes that lend themselves to the midfield, link up player who can bully his way through congestion

Can’t take an overhead mark. Dan Curtin is an elite contested mark, that’s the whole point of his role, monstering smaller wingers down the line and working back into defence to intercept.

Respect the views but I’ll sit on the other side of the fence on this one, he can definitely run a wing role and be a POD for us.

No issues with trying to add some more strings to his bow but he’s just not a winger in my eyes so it would be a waste

No point playing someone out of position just so we can say he is playing seniors

Would play him as a half back sweeper behind the contest where he can still get some midfield contest experience but with more of an outside role if we didn’t want to just throw him in the guts

Maybe the mail on pairing the two SA boys is correct but dependent on what Essendon and Richmond are specifically working towards which is yet to play out.

If Essendon have been trying to get our pick 3 for Robey, and we have told them to pee off unless we get 2 first rounders, Essendon rightly won't trade 5 and 6 but instead then get Carltons pick 9 as reported and trade it with pick 5 for our 3 (as envisaged).

With Robey taken by Essendon at 3, and us originally going to take Robey and Grlj at 3 and 4, we then take Sharp and Cumming at 4 and 5 in Robeys place and Grlj slips to 9 where we also take him.

Don't know why people feel this way. Blair said we are trying to build a premiership team.
Even Robey said Taylor was the difference between them winning/losing the Grand Final this year.

I feel that way because midfielders win you more games than defenders save them. Good enough midfield and the ball just isn't getting down the other end anyway.

Xavier wants to be a Richmond player pretty clear, Broad & Vlastuin getting on, Trainor is not enough.

Jury still out on Gibcus although I do hope he comes good injury history is not looking bright on him. and he slightly more of key position anyway Gibcus, I know he is a good intercept as well.
