Combine that with Jones fighting a pensioner, Aspinalls eye poke and it's been the shittest run of title fights ever.

I don't even hate wrestling by itself, I hate negative wrestling that doesn't ever try and progress to a finish, Islam should have been stood up when he wasn't trying to progress anything.

If it wasn't for Topuria and Poatan sport wouldn't be worth watching outside a handful of strikers

It's not great viewing though but not sure what you can do to stop it without getting the refs overly involved.

I thinks getting the refs more involved is a net negative to the sport than it is to just let them wrestle. Outside of anything egregious like fence grabbing/eye-poking I'd prefer they just let them fight.

At some point it's a skill issue that needs to be addressed and isn't fair to the wrestler.

Top control wrestling has ruined the sport at championship level. Was okay when it was just GSP but an hour of control time in row. Thank Christ I didn’t pay for it.

GSP mixed it up and was a very competent and dangerous striker on his feet as well.

Khabib started this and set the standard of just blanketing and ground controlling fights bell to bell.

It's called mixed martial arts but for most, there is nothing mixed about their skillset.

Saw someone post on reddit, that, to combat the wrestlers just wrestling bell to bell on the ground, the first 2 minutes of a round should not allow any take downs.

This. Should be a time limit where the grappler has to try to initiate a submission attempt or transition, rather than just blanketing. If they don't stand them back up.

An even though in say the Khamzat DDP fight or this one it very likely ends in another take down, atleast the crowd gets to experience some stand up moments. This was ****ing boring.

I went to the UFC in Vancouver and watched Allen and RDR lay on each other for 4 rounds. We tried to leave early because it was just dead.

Unless you're a ****ing Muslim there's no way you enjoyed watching that shit.

They'll throw a few faux-sub attempts to keep it on the ground. If the wrestler wants to keep it on the ground they'll do it unless they can get stopped.

It's a skill issue.
