As someone that was heavily anti-CDT for most of the season, I've now done a full 180 and would probably be disappointed if we stick and pick at 2 and grab someone else.

Early on I was pro split pick 2 if we got a very good offer.

Now Id be ok with using it on any of CDT, Sharp or Robey.

Chances are we make two bids and pick 2 becomes pick 5.

If we trade up to get ahead of the Dean bid, we won’t be left with enough points to match Dean, let alone Ison.

Not to mention Walker next year to get up it would require a future first. You’ll need it next season.

Carl have two options soak 9 with the Dean bid (maybe shifts 11 down to say 13 or so)

Or split both or one of these picks for points

Who does North want at pick 11 here?

My gut tells me they see Schubert sliding and they are certain he is around at 11 myself. Id think this comes out somewhere down the line. It MUST be to target 1 man

Maybe but im not sure hes anywhere really near best available at 11.

Whichever Essendon doesn’t take out of Dovaston and Schubert at 9. They are the players the Blues picks are most likely to be used on in my view.

Not sure Essendon take either one. Surely they need midfielders.

Yeah, I reckon we'd be happy with a number of players here and I expect the plan is to come out with a tall and a small from either end of the ground and a midfielder to compliment what we have (tall defensive, winger, whatever the goal). The absolute best still sitting there in any of those categories will dictate what we do later. Our first two picks will be in nice spots for need.

Wouldnt rule out Dovaston for North either

Invested heavily into some young talls Comben, Whitlock, Dawson, Goad and Trembath showed plenty

Curtis we all love, but someone to team up with him would be nice

Agree think he’d suit North not sure a trade up for Schubert is the one. Maybe it’s a Farrow or a Dovaston

Carlton can trade 9 and 43 to Essendon for 21, 27, 30

The Dean bid probably comes earliest at 3, after Uwland, so the trade with Essendon is more like 10 and 42 for 20, 25, 28. It gives Carlton an extra 374 points, and gives Essendon pick 42 for matching their NGA kids. If I had to guess, they'll match Sweid with this pick (which will come in with all the bid matching) and go into a slight deficit next year, and only take El Achkar if he's bid on after 37 (so he's essentially free)
we have a winner, makes the most sense for all involved

It seems youd have to be thinking its a very small % Farrow is their post Ess, Dees and hawks

So not him

Probably not but purely from a list, not sure Essendon really need a key (especially when we consider they likely have a top 4-5 pick next year in a better draft).

If I’m Essendon I wouldn’t bother doing the trade can get a slider at the first 20 ish pick then match the bids

Instead were gonna get a pick at 13 isntead of probably 23 and then also match the bids

Just my personal opinion, but I see CDT as the biggest boom or bust prospect in this years draft, and I believe the percentages are weighted in favour as a bust.

He's a KPP who is a poor ruck, poor overhead mark, and is lauded for his ground ball game, but his skills aren't anywhere close to what Tim English's were when he was drafted. He's "athletic", but not a good leaper in a contest.

He hasn't been a dominant junior ruck, in a poor ruck class. So exactly how useful will CDT be?

He's not going to be the number 1 ruck in a team for at least 6 years, so which team drafts him, is going to have to play him as a forward for much of his early career, where his supposed ground ball game won't be as impactful.

For me, he's a shorter, poor mans Tim English, and not remotely close to a young Luke Jackson.
