Instead of debating Sharp / CDT for the 20th consecutive week, let’s talk about our pick 13 and also how we’ve shot ourselves in the foot by not having more list spots open, for all the talk about this being a shallow draft I think there’s going to be some really good sliders in the 20-45 range.

Pick 1 - duursma
Pick 2 - cdt
Pick 13 - Hibbins-Hargreaves
Then the 3 nga’s as our final two picks / first rookie selection.
Walley as a cat b.

No sharp, but don’t sleep on Banfield as he could be a very good player and might be up there in the conversation as one of the best of our 2025 picks in a few years time.

Overall, that seems like a pretty solid draft haul to me with a little bit of everything. Leaves us ready to attack the best mid in the 2026 draft having taken the best talent in the 2025 draft. Setting us up for sustained long term success.

I’m a pretty big NHH truther, I do worry about his role at the next level though, is he a wing man, high half forward etc? His engine isn’t great, nor does he like the contested stuff at times, but the natural talent is enormous and he’s a match winner at his best.

Most/all of which will be better than Sharp next year.

Was Sharp or JHF the better/more ready made prospect. Remembering JHF played a full season of SANFL league and had 24D, 3.3 and 11 clearances in a SANFL prelim.

I’ve attached JHF’s first season and Clay Hall last year for your comparison.

Couple things to note:

  • Hall will likely improve next year
  • JHF is a far better prospect than Sharp who had more experience against men, particularly in the middle.

We're about to bring in MacRae and Robertson to do exactly this, then we already have Clay Hall and Tom Gross, who both do this consistently at WAFL.
McCrae and gross are not pure inside mid. Clay hall better figure out a way to be more defensive in his craft.

Yeo sure. But can he get on the park? I doubt he can as a FT mid.

Dev sure.

But then that's it.

A ruckman on the cheap you say?
Look no further than Zaydyn Lockwood a raw talent with an insane highlights reel. Fantastic tap ruckman, elite interceptor, tremendous tackler, great runner and not too shabby at the Nic-Nat tap and clearance double play:

This is exactly the type we should be trying to rookie.

Bit in here WC related

* Little-known South Australian Noah Roberts-Thompson is a reasonable chance of finding a home late in the AFL Draft, with the midfielder having been interviewed by more than half the AFL clubs. Brisbane and West Coast are understood to be leading the interest for him.

* Despite minimal attention, Eastern Ranges tall Marcus Krasnadamskis is set to find an AFL home on the second night of the National Draft, with Western Bulldogs and West Coast understood to be the clubs at the front of the queue for his services.

* A bid for West Coast Next Generation Academy small forward Tylah Williams is now widely anticipated to come on the first night of the AFL Draft. Williams was consistent in an indifferent campaign for the Black Swans and blitzed the National Combine, and is viewed among the top three small forwards in the crop, alongside Lachy Dovaston and Latrelle Pickett.

* Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves has been most closely linked to Fremantle, Hawthorn, West Coast and Essendon, and could come into consideration for a couple more at the back end of the first round and early in the second round.

So we have interest in two ‘no profile pic available players’ late in the draft.. not sure how we are going to grab them with 3 live picks then our NGA/FS, unless it’s a rookie list spot?

Gee, Cripps to the rookie list would’ve been a good idea… for the 100th time.

All the talk about Cooper Duff-Tytler, anyone got any intel on another ruck prospect called Cooper? Adam Jones the WA talent manager has spoken on separate occasions on Mark Duffield’s show about Cooper Ramsay from WA as an unheralded ruck prospect. Missed the Championships due to to injury but apparently would have been the WA first choice ruck if fit. Possible late/rookie prospect to allow as to take Robey or another mid at pick 2?

Some talk tigers considering him with their second pick. clubs must be seeing something we can’t…

Exactly what I was told yesterday morning. HEAVILY linked.

You don't need a 'pure' inside mid, you just need blokes who can win the footy at stoppage.

In fact, coaches would much prefer the latter,.

Hall improved defensively as the season went on but would quickly run out of gas.

Finishing 2nd in the MAS test would show he's worked really hard on that part.
