Cumming would also be a stellar pick up after reading into him a bit more.

That interview left me with no extra info or vibes on who we will take, the club are keeping everyone guessing till the last second.

I did like hearing we have put the time into Robey since one of his earlier games.

If I were to take anything from the chat, at an absolute reach, it did seem like Xavier Taylor was the more favourable name.

but even then it's hard to be sure.

I don't doubt he is a gun defender. I know we are picking best available but I still don't believe it's wise to add yet another defender to our already plentiful stocks back there.
If we had a pick at the between 9 and 15 I'd be open to pulling the trigger on him but at pick 3 and 4 I just can't get on board.
I'm sure that in the next couple of years there will be another player with similar traits that we can select or even trade for.
If we are picking him because he could potentially end up as a midfielder then just pick a midfielder...

Exactly this. Xavier Taylor seems amazing, but it’s really the only position that we have solid and settled depth in. You could argue KPF too, but at least you can say our KPFs are young and not settled yet.

We desperately need more midfield talent (both speed and contests), and at 3 + 4, I want us filling one of those attributes.

Not going to melt over selecting Xavier Taylor over Cumming because Taylor’s actually good, but it might end up a missed opportunity for us IMO if we do that

Just so coincides with the fox footy article dropping, and mentioning there's late noise about Richmond and Farrow

We’re keeping our cards close to our chest it seems. Maybe it’s to get one of the teams with high picks to fold and request a trade up even though they don’t believe a trade’s happen in the top 10.

We’ll see what Twomey’s phantom draft looks like I guess

Hmmm maybe he’s foxing but I did sort of get the impression from that that Robey’s not at the top of our list.

Like he was saying yeah we’ve tracked him really closely and done a heap of work on him… which is why our decision not to take him is justified

It was easier last season when we knew we had the first pick. It’s interesting to see what West Coast does that could or will influence our next move. I’m unsure if it would happen, but I’d like Taylor somehow.

I think the players in our mix is Robey, Cummings, XT, Sharp and Farrow. Grilj not anymore and CDT would be top of that list but expectation is he’s now gone.

I think the rankings are XT, Robey then Cumming but I don’t know for sure.

Genuine gun in terms of talent. As he’s shown for three years at the elite pathway levels.

Take Taylor and best available Mid. Just because we are strong in defense this year, thats not the case when Vlas and Broad retire... and that is also pending Vlas comes back at full strength after his injury... That was a horrible injury to end the season at his age.

Barring injury, Mcaulliff and Smillie back in the midfield mix this year., Hotton and Lalor rotate through the mid as well.

Midfielder with our top 4 pick next year, happy days.
