Hmm not sure I'd do that now, think CDT is going to be a very good to a superstar type player, if Dons want him that badly I also want 9.

Except you were constantly assuring us that our designs on CDT at 2 were a smokescreen, and then at some point pivoted to sincerely proclaiming his value there. The capricious signalling is frustrating, feels almost more like you were being strung along as a mouthpiece.

Every draft expert has CDT in the top 5. There is no doubting that's where he belongs as a player. The club has constantly said publicly that 2 is available if a exceptional offer comes along and if it doesn't we'll happily use it, Dons only this morning said they'd are looking at making a play for it.

Regardless of CDT being used to lure in a godfather offer he is still the best option to take at pick 2.

I reckon the AFL would give us a couple of extra rookie spaces for the next season and maybe an extra pick at the end of round 3.

Wouldn't want to be seen to be helping us too much in that case though.
Well since the other clubs hadn’t had the opportunity to have planes crash into their training facilities wiping out their lists, the AFL would be keen to ensure no advantage was gained.

If we take WD and CDT with our first 2 picks, I feel like sliding our 3rd pick back to take Fred and match a bid on Tylah would make sense.

Fred is the best WA balanced mid and Tylah may be the best small forward of the crop in reflection in a few yrs time and has more upside than Malakai Champion due to his better skills.

Fred slides past our fourth pick and keeps on sliding.

Shit name, do not want.
Serendipitously (prior to your post) I put this prompt in to ChatGPT:

"Does Zaydyn Lockwood sound like a good footballers name?"

The response from ChatGPT:
"Zaydyn Lockwood absolutely sounds like an AFL footballer’s name — and here’s why:

✔ Strong first name

“Zaydyn” fits the modern AFL trend of distinctive but easy-to-say names (similar vibe to Jye, Taj, Zane, Kade). It’s punchy, memorable, and commentators could yell it without tripping over it.

✔ Elite surname

“Lockwood” is perfect:
  • Two syllables
  • Smooth to pronounce
  • Sounds tough without sounding made-up
  • Feels like it belongs on a team sheet or Best & Fairest count"
So you're clearly full of it.

iT WAS A DISAPPOINTING LISTEN REALLY. Sorry caps again.
Nothing new, nothing we didn't already know.
I am not keen on moving 13 back, not at all.

Wth. I’m actually pretty happy our recruiting team aren’t ruining what has been a nice tight lipped buildup with what might happen particularly with 2, 13 and some potential for swaps still in play.

Rather we let offers if they are around come to us than blurt out our plans with a couple of sleeps to go until our biggest draft night ever. Can’t wait, even if it does go the most likely way of Duursma / CDT, there will be plenty of interest in how we come out of it overall

Is Essendon potentially making a move for pick 2 in order to get ahead of Richmond for Robey and not CDT? Would the Tigers then swoop on CDT?

Think Robey would slide anyway to Dons, not sure he is what the Tigers are looking at.

WEST COAST

PICKS: 1, 2, 13, 34, 41

The Eagles are expected to grab midfielder-forward Willem Duursma at No. 1 on Wednesday night before beginning the bidding wars. Gold Coast is bracing for a potential bid at pick 2 on Academy prospect Zeke Uwland, while West Coast also has Carlton father-son Harry Dean in its sights and is every chance to place a bid on him too. Ruckman-forward Cooper Duff-Tytler is widely favoured to join West Coast with its second selection, but the Eagles are also big fans of Sullivan Robey and Dyson Sharp and haven’t completely ruled out trading that second selection and sliding back. Essendon has spoken to West Coast about moving up the board, but an impressive eleventh-hour offer would need to be put forward for that to be considered. The Eagles are also open to either moving up or moving back their third selection, depending on how the early picks shake out. West Australian rebounding defender Jacob Farrow is unlikely to still be on the board, but South Australian key forward Aidan Schubert is another player who has been linked there. West Coast has NGA prospects Tylah Williams and Koby Evans available to it later in the order or as rookies, along with father-son prospect Charlie Banfield. Rivals suspect a bid could come for Williams as early as night one.

So-

• Do Essendon throw a late Hail Mary at us for CDT? What would we accept?
• Pick 13 - trade up, trade back or keep where it is?

Beyond 4WD at our first pick, plenty of intrigue as to what we do after that - our relationship with Rosa/O’Brien should ensure any trade plans between the clubs remain private.

And what happens if a plane crashes into Lathlain and the whole team is crushed? What then huh?

You guys really need to be considering these things or you can't call yourselves fans, smh my head.

Yesssss, we've finally got our own private jet with minimal expenditure!

I voted CDT and it's a combination of still believing the club will get it right despite everything, and also if he turns out to be a bust I'll be like "Well I wanted him too"
For sure, but I doubt he'll be a bust, at that level.
He'll be a handy player wherever he slots in.
I'm still on board the Sharp train, or any inside extractor type mid. Was rewatching some reels of Priddis and for all his shortcomings, he was an absolute ball pig, he got it out one way or another.

Robey is perfectly positioned as the late riser that gets talked about as a crazy high pick on the back of a handful of games, then the scrutiny comes and he slowly slips back a little once the hype wears off.

Imagine he'll go high, but sounds like he's gone from almost a "lock" at 3 to dropping back a few.

Trade week: Clarke is too transparent in interviews. You can’t just lay out the player values and publicly state your intentions. Look at the real estate agent Brisbane trot out. Now that’s how you get results.

Draft week: Clarke hasn’t clearly laid out our plans and has even suggested that multiple options are on the table. This bloke doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.

Love this website so much.

True x1000. It’s like casting a net and trawling for dum-dums in here every trade & draft period. The hauls are plentiful and hilarious as always too

Keys thats been the go for the last month, they have talked but "Mums the word".

I am not saying that a trade will occur however the two Clubs started talking even before trade week.

One thing that's stuck out for me over all the phantom drafts and media chatter is that the Eagles have kept it pretty tight lipped on what we're doing with pick 2. Even Twomey hasn't said anything with confidence.

Will work in our favour if a bid was to come for our pick 2, needs to be as strong as possible.

Prefer his brother Flint. Goes well in wet weather.

1- Duursma (WC)
2- CDT (Ess)
3- Cumming (Rich)
4- Grlj/XT (Rich)
5- Robey (WC)
6- Sharp (WC)

2 and 13 for 5 and 6, doubtful but let me dream for a 48 hours.

That's the bare minimum as a trade for pick 2 and 13. If Dons really want that pick they'll be paying up.

Hopefully Cumming and Sharp would be available 5 and 6 but a mixture of those two and Robey would make for a very good draft haul along with Duursma.

My two questions
1. Is a trade going to happen with dons on draft day without it leaking
2. Why haven't it leaked we have told the players at pick 1 and 2 we are taking them???

Why is neither leaking

Two days left. Wonder if Cal is going to leak something along the lines we called the pick 1 and 2 and let them know our intentions. Lalor was on the day apparently

Regardless Ill going with Twoomey last phantom

Not sure but I think you need to panic more
