Okay, I plugged the potential trades into Pommy's flux capacitor, and here's what it spat out. Together with my own draft predictions just for my own amusement, and see how it matches up with Cal's later today.

Assumes that Dean gets a bid at pick 3 - and we've made our trades to North and Essendon as reported. We end up with around pick 25 and points to match an Ison bid if he doesn't get a bid beforehand.

1. WCE - Duursma
2. GCS - Uwland (match)
3. Carl - Dean (match)
4. GCS - Paterson (match)
5. WCE - Duff-Tytler
6. Rich - Robey
7. Bris - Annable (match)
8. Rich - Taylor
9. Ess - Sharp
10. Ess - Cumming
11. Melb - Schubert
12. Melb - Nairn
13. Ess - Dovaston
14. Haw - Hibbins-Hargreave
15. WCE - Williams (match)
16. North - Thredgold
17. GWS - Marsh
18. WBD - Farrow
19. Ade - Grlj
20. Geel - Greeves
21. Freo - Pickett
22. Haw - Barker
23. Syd - King (match bid)
24. North - Lindsay
25. Carl - Ludowyke
26. Carl - Ison (match bid) - deficit around 50 points on 2026 2nd
27. Syd - Taylor
28. WBD - Phillipou
29. WCE- Onley
30. GWS - Emmett

I honestly can't see Ison getting a bid before at least the mid 20's, unless it's someone looking for us to 'pay up' Too much quality still on offer imo.

I think people who are using the argument that the Eagles are going purely tactical with a Dean top 3 call need to realise that all of the Phantoms and rankings you've been reading for the past 6 months have come mostly from amateurs.
I'm not really potting them either as any information out there for the public is great reading in the lead up to the draft.
The clubs tend to keep things pretty close to their chest but to see the scouts salivating over Dean at the national championships left me in no doubt that he was rated extremely highly.

Running through the numbers and simulations, there's still a realistic scenario where we can trade up via both Richmond and Essendon, and there remains the possibility that Ison is a bid consideration at Geelong's second pick (40 at the start of the night, but it comes all the way in to 32-35).

So much to still play out it seems, but I can see even more why clubs have been in discussions and where rumours have come from. Essendon chasing Pickett is another piece of that puzzle.

In keeping with the energy and tone of this thread over the past few days, I’d just like to formally state that I dislike every single one of you, and I wholeheartedly disagree with all of your draft takes, bidding theories, and prospect assessments.

Bottom line is I reckon we will swap both 9 & 11 for later picks and some next year, then will take Dean and Ison with points and move on

That will be it with two spots for a rookie and/or SSP's

That's my take
I predict we'll take Dean, Ison and a late pick in the draft (KPP or small forward).

Then leave 1 spot vacant for the train-ons to fight it out.

Incredibly petty if true, because they gain almost nothing out of it.

I could see the logic if we kept nine and 11 and it moved them up the order once those picks were wiped out …but this is the game obviously.

We will have long memories.

I would love to get Pickett (won't happen)

If somehow we got Dean and then a pick around 25 (for a Pickett) plus Ison I would be very happy but just can't see it happening and we have other needs and limited spots

Best we make a nice little bid on Banfield with our spare pick in the 20s if that occurs.

But I'll believe it when I see it, I really don't think Richmond or Essendon want to bid either.

Surely they bid on GCS kids as well?

Why just go for Dean i understand that it slides there picks down but it would also do the same for there later picks by making GCS pay up?

I’m assuming they’ll also bid on Uwland, but it’s smart for Carlton to trade out with ESS/North to counter the slides.

Positive for us really hope the handshake agreement rumor between our clubs is legit but bit of smack to you guys

e.g we dont bid on Cody next year you dont bid on Koby in 2027

Very similar to mine, clubs and players

Have Carlton taking Ludowyke at 26 and matching Ison at 29
