Lets get this straight -

I have said all along that I don’t think they did - but if they did, I don’t think it shows much integrity.

You made the comment about ‘not owing’….why would you say that if you thought they didn’t make those statements?

Can’t have it both ways. 😉
C88 and you need to move on. No one knows.

Love this, just popped up on my insta. Good to see our media team coming up with such a fun clip.

I liked the GWS cap drifting into frame, though not all the jokes were as nuanced. Good fun though and nice to see. I hope our media team to generate good content this season

Keane's full interview from this morning:

As you'd expect he said we don't really know who will be on the table by the time our picks come around, we've practised a number of scenarios. Thinks we have enough points to cover the academy prospects but pretty vague about that too (also no surprise). Said he's interested in picking non-academy players but frankly hard to see how that happening:

His comments on the academy boys:
Harry Kyle - -rugby background, athletic, still needs to learn about the game, but great development during the year

Max King - has a lot of the skills, has lacked a bit of consistency this year

Lachie Carmichael - ultra-consistent

Also Noah Chamberlain got a shoutout.

Keane's full interview from this morning:

Thanks for that Adnico26Parker - exactly what I came here looking for.

That's the best impression Chris Keane has made on me in front of the camera. Quite properly didn't give anything away but seemed more confident and assured than previously. It will be exciting to see where the bids come and how we react. Hopefully we're not much involved on the first night of the draft.

Our Academy boys are interesting mix: one really solid known quantity and three more unknown quantities (for different reasons) with high ceilings and low floors.

so this years draft is a big hail Mary play.

Bit of a stretch. We brought in three trades that are known quantities. We know as much as possible about the 5 academy boys and have a few other possibilities if things go pear-shaped. The one thing that is really difficult to predict is where other clubs will bid on our kids. That's always the case, especially when they're not in the top echelon.

I don't think so. It seems to me, from the outside obviously, the Swans have positioned themselves to take every single one of the Academy boys, which has been their MO the whole time. That's not to suggest they don't have eyes on all the other prospects, its clearly not, but the positioning does allow them to also grab someone if teams let the academy guys fall all the way to them.

I was saying about Kyle and just his improvement is great and his measurements were awesome too. I'm a little weary of the timing of everything. Just saying.

Not talking about trades. I think the commentary is we have got to back the academy kids as we won’t really have much choice around others, which includes backing some we otherwise may not have backed….ithink we have put faith in the trades which has left us with this situation.

I am not even saying it’s a bad thing, just that it is what it is according to some. Drafting is a lottery at the best of times.

I took your "hail Mary" comment to mean that we were just swinging wildly and hoping, which I don't believe to be the case.

I think there is an element of that with some of the academy boys we will take.

I think we’re protected this year from early, vexatious bids. Doesn’t mean there won’t be an earlier-than-wished for bid on one or more of our players but it will be because the bidding club really wants them. The three players are just so different in their profiles/trajectories. No one knows in what order the Swans rate them or how other clubs (in general) rate them against the pool. No one knows if the Swans will contemplate a future deficit, or what size deficit they will contemplate.

Yep, as this article shows: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1453715/kevin-sheehans-greatest-top-40-afl-draft-selections. The best pick in the draft is pick 40. And pick 6 is one of the worst. :p
