Bringing extra 35, 48, 49 (extra 528 points) makes a big difference.
It still leaves a deficit behind in my calculations albeit very very small

Is it even legal to go into deficit for 2027?

If we bid at pick 3 though we take 300 points away so that'd wipe alot of that out also. Bid on Uwland with pick 1 instead of 2 wipes that all away

the big picture here is the Eagles, not the Beagles.
No opinion on Schoenberg, but IMO having a competitive Beagles side is critically important for us given where we are at.

No point having project players getting completely lost in a dysfunctional side and affecting their development.

rebuilding clubs should ideally have a strong reserves side - this is how equalisation is supposed to work. If a rebuilding uncompetitive AFL club has an uncompetitive reserves side, then it’s going to be stuck in the mire for a long time.

I don’t love bringing in loads of discards, but if we can move the ammos out of the midfield and onto pockets and flanks, that is a good outcome imo.

Good question. If they trade our all their 2026 picks they shouldn’t be able to go into any deficit

Why do you think he is gone? Suns did keep him this year.

He is one of possible candidates for me together with King, Walter, Rogers to leave but far from certain. If he plays well, who knows.
Because Humphrey's doesn't have the professionalism to not repeat the same charade next year at which point it comes a bit of a distraction and troublesome to keep chasing around

Posted on the Hough pick in 2021. Ochre then proceeded to give this tired unfunny joke a rest by posting it on every other pick that was made, and a dogshit meme was born.

It’s beautiful.
The reactions to us taking Hough are hilarious. The vast, vast majority of us don't know shite, and it shows.

Absolutely no one cares about our WAFL side being competitive besides Eagles fans ....

3 bodies is a starting point yet everyone wants to treat it as the end point and only change needed

Everyone is in for a rude shock I feel next year when we go under 5 wins again in the WAFL

All the more reason to bid on Uwland at 1 meaning the Suns fork up 2,700 points.

Assume it is matched then take Duursma at 2 (welcome to selfless football Willem).

Bid on Patterson at 3 meaning the Suns fork up 1,960 points

Bid on Dean at 4 gives a similar result slight order change costing them 1,766. If they do not trade out 9 and 11, pick 9 is fully consumed (which is now pick 11) and pick 11 goes in (which is now pick 13) while they get back pick 27. So they are trading out meaning more picks in the 20's wiped out.

We then pick CDT at 5.

The Suns currently have 3,772 with an additional 102 points suggested with the Crows deal. That is therefore a deficit after the first 2 bids matched of 786. (the maths is not 100% right as some of the picks will come by 2 after the Uwland bid is matched).

We then bid on Murray at 18 costing the Suns another 752 meaning the total deficit is now 1,538.

Assume matched and happy to take him if not.

We then bid on Addinsall at 19 costing another 712 points bringing the total deficit to 2,250. This is startig to get serious now.

And the Suns have not yet got Coulson! They have sold their F1. Yes they will likely lose players next year and get picks but they do not have points now.

And do not get sucked into thinking there will be a premium on 15 and 18. Assuming the 2 Carlton deals go ahead, we will be the only club with multiple R2 picks that are not with club tied early prospects (and some might argue ours will be with Williams). There are not premiums to be paid. And Lions are also looking for pick premiums with 17. It will not happen in a buyer's market.
I was playing with Sotarams mock draft simulator and looking at trades and can confirm there aren't going to be buyers for GC Pick 15 or Brisbane's Pick 17 and the obvious clubs in North and Bombers will preference the Carlton picks.

Basically no one else has suitable picks to provide a premium. So they either need to wrap them up with future picks to trade forward for points and be in a deficit either way or keep them as is. So it points to them keeping the picks as it which weakens their ability to match!

Schoenberg will mean we lose pick 1 in the rookie draft assuming we take all our NGAs and Charlie. Poor use of a list spot. Even a project tall would have been better. We’re so fixated on plugging the age gap after years of shit drafting only to fill it up with more list cloggers.
I suspect we dont even take walley.
I think he would get through the RD and still be eligible for us in 26?

Both players have stayed out of the draft so for them to do that they must have been given an assurance we would take them. Would be a dick move by the club to then walk away from that commitment
Did the players we trialled in the previous post-season (inc Brock) nominate for the draft then?
If Schoenberg & McRae did nominate for the draft, would there even be much chance of them being drafted by another team?

Recall several ITK posters rated Hough.

Was a somewhat hidden gem from Wa the mob over East didn't rate.

Which is perfectly fine for a pick in that range. East Coast sides have plenty of choice of locals in that range they would rank at the same level as a Hough but they go local.

It's why we draft in so many WA kids with later picks. When not much seperat3s players we historically go local.

I agree now. Getting extra picks 35, 48, 49 would indicate Suns will match all 5 unless some crazy things will happen.

Just as interest, apparently, Sun max deficit is 662 points.

How does the deficit work though if they are trading out all their future picks.

They have traded F1 already so can they go into deficit if a bid is in R1.

It seams ridiculous that you can trade all your future picks and go into deficit but then have nothing to pay that deficit next year??

Brock, Burgiel and Van Es all nominated for last year’s draft

Every chance Macrae and Schoenberg wouldn’t get drafted if they did nominate but they’re no chance now they haven’t. Only reason they wouldn’t nominate is if they’ve been guaranteed a spot - no way they’d stay out of the draft if all we’ve offered them was a train on spot

Presumably they're leaving it there in case there's a bid on Evans/Banfield? I guess they just don't know where it'll come.
Yeah makes sense and clearly this mock draft didn’t do trades but you’d hope we trade back and get a future for it. Essendon could be a buyer when the Bombers trade with the Blues goes through.

Otherwise another reason why another list spot should’ve been opened up. 34 could’ve been traded out for an F2 and Still had 41 and 53 to match with and they will come in a fair way.

Parts of TB trade not used and now possibly Chesser trade.
