They actually go and and actively attract sponsors, they generate big gates at finals and they don’t waste it. Staff are well credentialed and are driven to succeed. This all helps
Beat me to the punch.
Not casting aspersions on anyone at either league, I'm sure staff everywhere have their niche talents and skills.
But they can have as many staff as they want as long as they are high-functioning and generating the revenue and turnover the RDFNL does. The clubs naturally benefit.

This was 11 years ago, the gv was making a profit, since the afl took over, the league has run at a loss, afl barwon just recorded a 170k loss, im sure the bfl is running at a loss too. Id think that maybe the bfl should look at how the gv was running things than more than the rdfl

God the points is a joke and seems randomly pulled out the backside of someone... South 43 points.... after taking the absolute piss last few years.. Premiers also 43. Strath on 39 makes no sense to me. they haven't played in a GF since 2022 haven't won one since 2019. I understand Golden Square won in 2023 but surely some consideration could be taken given the amount of talent that went out the door, Square in a worse spot than South.

The same set of rules brought in for equalisation that has created the exact opposite. The same 3-4 teams competing year after year in most competitions.

Bendigo is totally different to riddell, its not a great example of how the bfl could be run. Heathcote is more closer aligned to riddell thwn bendigo

Bendigo is totally different to Riddell because Riddell is an interesting well run league going from strength to strength it’s absolutely an example they should learn from

Central Highlands FL always remained outside the Goldfields Hub apart from affiliating for access to umpires, the tribunal and funding grants. Was run for two decades by a couple, one simultaneously a VCFL employee. Changed at the end of the season and is now being run by a former RAC employee.
Sounds like an easy gig but as a 17 team competition with five grades he's got enough to keep him busy full time. AFL Vic has a marvelous ability to increase the workload of league employees.

Question for the Castlemaine crew. If the club was to leave the BFNL, which league would best suit the club in future years?

As a spectator I’d love to see Castlemaine in Riddell to rekindle the Kyneton games and I think they would be more competitive and have interesting games much like Kyneton has

It wasn't too long ago that they were considered a rabble; however, the finger-pointing ceased, and they were able to turn it around.
Hopefully, the Bendigo comp can do the same.

Another excellent reason to follow them maybe they should be headhunting the ceo down there

What did South do wrong last year with the points system? They always seemed to be well under?

But why is that Souths issue? Seems like they didn’t do anything wrong?
South had individual player points reduced by the league outside of the very clear cut parameters of the points system which enabled them to field a far more competitive team. Now since the league or AFL CV dont ever communicate their rulings ( or financial performance for that matter) you can only guess why they would do that.

Clubs can 100% appeal the points given to a player and it can be based on multiple reasons. Jack Geary was a 3 point player when he first went to Cohuna, have a look around the region and you might actually notice something. But just another thing for you guys to complain about I suppose with your tin foil hats

There’s a list of 5 or more reasons that a club can lodge for point reductions that you can check out on the BNFL page. I’d imagine that one of those would be the reasons why.

If other clubs wanted to do similar they have the ability to ask.

I don’t think anyone should have any issue with South over getting points reduced it’s not their job to give a sucker an even break
Where the issue would be is if it is correct that Castlemaine were denied any points relief to allow them to recruit Ben Brown for a few games which I have heard but not from anyone in a position to know
Maybe Crazy could comment on that

No tin foil hats just like rules and processes and having them adhered to. Yep understand the process and well across point reductions given to players across multiple leagues. If the process is so transparent why dont leagues communicate their reasonings?

Did Castlemaine attempt to lower points using those reasons or just ask for more points?

Is it commonplace for any league to go we have x player a point reduction because of xxxx?

Really haven’t seen that anywhere. Happy to be corrected though.

I havent seen them either and that is exactly my point because if they communicated them there would be upheaval

Why would Jack geary not have been 3pts?

Don’t know I just heard he would have played a few games but couldn’t fit into the points and they were knocked back on whatever request they made to help get him in and he wouldn’t play if it meant a regular got chucked
