not a fan of Mason Cox, I think he’s arrogant and overrated, and I’m quite disappointed in the club for giving him a 2 year contract, instead of giving a WAFL ruckman a go.
Everything else aside, we had the best WAFL ruckman on our list the past few years and Justin refused to play him. There is no point having that sort of ruckman. There were times when playing the backup ruckman would have been a good idea for our afl team and we didn't. If Mason is in reasonable form, he has shown that he is good enough to call upon when needed.
I'd back him to call out how the free kick rules suddenly changed for him at Freo in his post career too

Hopefully he's not required to play over the next 2 years since one of Jackson & Darcy is always fit. If the unthinkable happens and he plays, I'm afraid there will be some nuffies doing that if he marks the ball. We had a guy bring a bell to the ground for the whole of Peter Bell's career ffs.

At that time Darcy was not having the issues with his knee and ankle. And bringing in Jackson, was not ideal for Meek to want to stay.
Another funny part was that Brisbane have supposedly put work into Whan for a later pick. Would put the cherry on top of that pick trade if they bid on him with a pick we basically gave them for nothing.
No I wasn't. I would have played Meek personally. I meant Reidy. He (with Eastlands) was the best Wafl ruck and Justin wouldn't play him even when there were times he was probably needed. Justin won't play Wafl only level rucks (he just got Meek wrong), so no point putting one on the list. At least there is a chance Justin will play Cox if a ruck/ ruck/forward is needed as he has shown himself to be capable at the level. Much like Oscar McDonald.
Seriously, if he was the best WAFL ruckman, then the rest must have been very ordinary.
He won't make it at AFL level He is just a player.
He will finish up like Scott Jones. Play a lot at second tier level and dominate, but just be not good enough.
And no, he didn't "just get Meek wrong". Sadly there was not a spot there for Lloyd.

But his opponent won the Simpson medal.
But at WAFL level, Jones is a beast.And has been for a long time. Since Fremantle delisted him.

Agree to disagree. He told Meek that he had a role for him after he looked elsewhere . Said publicly that he should have have articulated that more clearly, earlier. Picking him would have done all the articulating he needed to do.
Surely they wouldn't plenty of talk about teams have a handshake agreement not to bid on academy players so you have a working relationship? Would be shit of brisbane to do so since we helped them do the trade
There wasn't the need to play him since we always had 1 of the 2 monsters available in 2025, the round 1 experiment didn't work against Geelong's weak ruck division. This is going to be the case with any back-up ruck as there are not many teams with 2 AFL standard rucks who can solo ruck if required. Therefore I really don't think it's a big deal who we get if we find ourselves knee deep in injuries coming into a final, probably better with an experienced player rather than a WAFL journeyman.
Still for the life of me cant see what benefit we got from facilitating that trade between the Premiers and the scum
