A slow inside mid who is a poor kick? I'm not really surprised tbh, I'm happy. He'll be a fine player, but not really the traits we're looking for right now surely?Seems odd that we're not linked to Sharp, I would hope we'd take him if available.

Will be a leader for sure, and will no doubt be a good player, just don't think it would be ideal for us to add in a slow inside extractor-handballer who is a poor kick (sounds familiar right?).But leadership.
I thought he looked pretty good, I'm just a casual observer though. I figured he looks ready to go and we just lost Trac and Oliver so I feel it is an area that needs to be filled. I guess the recruiters are going a different route when it comes to midfielders and if Cumming doesn't slip through (which he won't) then they'll go for another need. Taylor looks like a good long term prospect so I'd be happy with him, particularly with May on the way out. We can always target an ideal mid next year when we likely finish bottom 4.A slow inside mid who is a poor kick? I'm not really surprised tbh, I'm happy. Sam Blease probably would have been better in today's footy.... with more space to run in. An old styled winger.I thought he looked OK, I would be happy with him. However as you pointed out speed isn't everything, no point adding speed if you end up with a Jayden Hunt Type or Sam Blease if you want to go back further.
Blease was a bit like Baker, could run but only run one way. Would get forward and kick great goals but I don't think I ever saw him run anyone down going back the other way. Even in today's game, it looks flashy but if you don't run both ways it shits coaches (unless you're a coach like a certain someone who's whole game is outscore the opposition or bust).Sam Blease probably would have been better in today's footy.... with more space to run in. An old styled winger.
He was crucified by the flood/press type game-styles.
He could never develop in that quagmire.
Essendon has put in a lot of work on Taylor by the sound of things. I would be surprised if they passed on him, but he would suit us down to the ground if they did.Seems odd that we're not linked to Sharp, I would hope we'd take him if available. Having said that by the sounds of it Essendon won't pass on Sharp. It's actually shaping up to be quite and interesting night. Sounds like Richmond are keen on Robey and Cumming but also Taylor and Essendon aren't keen on a defender. Anyway whatever the circumstance we'll end up with a solid player
Talor Byrne looks a likely type, could be a revelation, or could be a small HF snail.?I think being a quick team isn't necessarily leg speed either, it's ball movement and a teams ability to hit a target. I think that's a part of why Geelong have been so good for so long, they always seem to use the ball so well and cut teams open with good skills
Not really... when the top of the draft is so close together on abilities... then it comes back to needs based.Interesting to hear Taylor say we are picking based on a “touch” of need.
Feel he is underplaying that part a bit.
Well we do have Viney and Steele currently... and next year is another draft entirely. Which none of us seems to have looked thru, as yet.I thought he looked pretty good, I'm just a casual observer though. I figured he looks ready to go and we just lost Trac and Oliver so I feel it is an area that needs to be filled. I would draft xTaylor at Richmond, if I were them.Essendon has put in a lot of work on Taylor by the sound of things. I would be surprised if they passed on him, but he would suit us down to the ground if they did.
Sharp looks exactly as his name suggests.I loved Sharp's highlight reel too, so I was a bit surprised that we don't appear to be interested. I can see he's not lightning quick, but his bravery and attack on the ball are first rate and I thought his kicking looked fine.
I would draft xTaylor ahead of any inside mids for us.Wonder if our Nairn stance changes if Taylor drops through or if we would be comfortable going 2 mid sized blokes.
his highlights look better than Nairn's. In fact, his highlights look better than most first rounders. I'm down.Talor Byrne looks a likely type, could be a revelation, or could be a small HF snail.?
He seems to stay mentally locked-in on his football, from play to play... worth a late shot at it.
TBH it's quite possible you know way more than me. I haven't followed players super closely, just a few videos and write ups here and there. Mostly just follow the reports and rumours about who we're looking at. Personally, I hope we're replacing Trac and Oliver with players like Langford, Windsor, Kozzy, Rivers etc rather than getting another 'Oliver type' in the draft and plugging in the same things.I thought he looked pretty good, I'm just a casual observer though. He and Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (classic MFC name) are ones to watch I reckon with that later pick.Talor Byrne looks a likely type, could be a revelation, or could be a small HF snail.?

it's time to stop fantasising about getting X.Taylor. It's not happening.I would draft xTaylor ahead of any inside mids for us.
I think we need class on the half-back line, and half-forward lines.
And as suggested, I would be trading out Lever and Fritsch, at end of 2026. At their high point of they're values.
I think he's worth a punt, Talor Byrne... But he would need to be an inside rover type... otherwise he becomes another Spargo.his highlights look better than Nairn's. In fact, his highlights look better than most first rounders. I'm down.
I don't mind waiting til tomorrow, its a bit like christmas. you can see the bike wrapped in chrissy paper... but it may not be yours.?it's time to stop fantasising about getting X.Taylor. It's not happening.
What IF he goes to West Coast.?it's time to stop fantasising about getting X.Taylor. It's not happening.

I'm definitely not against us taking a mid, I'd be rapt if Cumming fell to us, but you're right there I reckon in that he won't. Think there's some good options there that can unlock other things for us, and despite Taylor's comments today I'm not yet 100% convinced we don't do a pick trade somewhere (keeping an eye on Hawthorn in particular) but that's all just a guess.
