I know this likely echoes a lot of the earlier posts but sheesh
Dean was touted as pick in the 30s-40s early this year and now WCE are gunna bid at pick 3? Ggf. A midsized defender, I don’t doubt he’s had a good year but still bemusing

I obviously want him, but feels like we’ve been squeezed vs previous year F/Ss and we can’t get the value for our picks vs how top 10/12 picks are considered (someone else’s post on 100c on the dollar, feels accurate)

But what can we do ffs

He's 1cm shorter than Weitering

Rodriguez or Tobyn Murray for mine

Tobyn Murray fits the bill.

20 years old, proven performance at VFL level, speed and endurance beast, knows where to find the goals.

If he was a year younger who knows where he would be rated in this draft.

Essendon and West Coast seemed to have played the game and ripped us a nice one. Cheers guys.
Remember last year how we traded out of this years draft and got Jagga because the club didn’t rate this years draft? Wasn’t the plan last year that that take Dean and maybe a couple of academy Kids? Had Dean and ison didn’t have the seasons they ended up having the club may have traded out 9 and 11 for picks next year and only needed lesser points this year. Its not like where in a position to draft a heap with stuff all list spots available

Phantom Draft late mail: Intrigue over Tigers' picks, Bombers' big haul - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1454286

Cal has the * deal as 9 and 43 for 21, 27 and 30. North deal is 11 and 54 for 25, 46 and F2.

Hope we hold onto pick 43.

Interesting that Cal hinted Geelong might not bid on Ison (even though they bid on Campo last year), which he suggests could mean Ison actually gets past our second pick at 25 (pre bid).

Fingers crossed … although the very pointed comments from the very striking CD in his latest media appearance suggested we’re likely to walk away with Dean and Ison before reassessing what’s left.

BTW using these trades and Cal's late mail Phantom Draft we would end up with Pick 41 and Pick 47 at the end of Night 1 (combined value of 338 points ~ Pick 35).

Yep keeping 43 would be nice but always felt something would have to be included for their Sweid bid.

And yes thought the same hearing CD - seems they are pretty confident Ison bid will come before the pick they get back from Dean matched bid. But maybe Geelong will play nicely...

From Cal Twomeys late mail article that just came out - North has been busy in recent days after securing pick 11 from Carlton, with the Roos swapping picks 25, 46 and a future second-rounder for 11 and 54
Looks like we will give 43 to the Bombers too so end up with 21,25, 27,30,46.

Based on my math, if Ison gets bid on at 22 and Dean at 3, we should be left with approx pick 40 and 47.

Thats based on 1 Sydney and 1 GC player getting bids in the teens before Ison, plus the big 4 all getting bids where they should.

If someone wants to go early on Ison we can probably cover bids from approx 16 without going into deficit.

Yes, considering we all know the amount of list spots available was/is completely out of our control, as was prioritizing players for 'now' over more astute rebuilding.

We only have ourselves to blame if the balance of our list continues to be weighted towards the battlers. It's just the same story, only with different names.

one could look at our paying pick 3 for dean as a sop for next year for us and the following year for * - it strengthens the argument of "look what we payed for harry dean - we had 2 strong picks - 9 and 11 - and had to use them on Harry @3. The system is working, you dont need to go as hard next year as you were planning".

we actually dont care about this draft as like every one else we dont love the talent pool, and * are terrified of the proposed new rules with bewick so are happy to play ball - the whole thing could be play acting

Traded to Hawthorn with pick 10 for 9 plus some. Stupid decision that has hurt us.
Swans wanted something this year to get that third first rounder, otherwise it woulda gone straight through I believe, that was the hold up of the deal, we needed to give something valuable back

Geel pissed maybe that we didnt bend over at their Charlie offer/deal?

if we end up with 21,25, 27,30,46 - what gets chewed up by Dean going at 3?
