It sounds weird but I don’t really like how the jumpers have become billboard for just any sponsor who pays. I loved how there used to be a relationship between the club and the sponsor and long term partnerships. Now all I seem to see is weird car brands.

I wonder how much it helps your business to sponsor an AFL team, especially for car brands most people wouldn’t buy a car for periods of 5+ years. The sponsors of training facilities are even stranger than the jumpers as well…
i know with Hawthorn's partnership with Nissan they do give a discount on new cars to members, albeit not that much

Yeah people are buying cars every 5 years because they're not built to last anymore. I've got a 1997 VS Commodore as my daily with over 350,000ks on it and it feels brand new. These new Chinese cars only last a few years.

What do cotton on get out of making geelong’s jumper now? It was already pretty much a sponsor more than a manufacturer.
Still on the Tag on the jumper, Shorts, Socks and Signage at the ground, they are ok.

Manufacturers should bargain for a position under the AFL logo I reckon.

As seen on this Adelaide one, it doesn’t work for every team’s design. I could see it maybe working if they went with the manufacturer up on the shoulder (like is common in the NRL) but only on one side. Maybe even if they put it above the AFL logo, which I think would make it look good with every team’s design.

I’d prefer it if they stacked two sponsor logo on top of one another on the right side of the guernsey and left the manufacturer on the collar. Would probably work better for teams with hoops/stripes in the design, but would look poor on the sash teams.

It's pretty understated in my opinion. I'm all for it.

AFLW sides did it well this season to accomodate the Telstra collar logo:

The uniqueness of AFLM templates, particularly around the shoulder stitching could make consistent placement a challenge. Womens' in 2026 will be interesting without the manufacturer homogeny.

I know the Bulldogs Asics template has the joint between front panel/shoulder quite low on the front of the jumper, which would make it hard to do (Asics don’t sell their space though). I also think the cotton on logo suits that style because it’s text that can hug the line of stitching. Whereas a company that has a logo that’s more of an icon than text, it may look weird.

The AFL must just not allow it because if a manufacturer can sell the collar space, and still have their branding on the jumper (apart from the jock tag) it seems like a no-brainer.

Just quietly, I would love this as the Men's indigenous guernsey in 2026. The invert would look great, also!

I thought our AFLM indigenous jumpers this year were pretty cool. On sale in most sizes last time I checked on Hawksnest
Our last few years have been excellent. We seem to have a new one each year, so simply suggesting we use the AFLW one for 2026 :D
