TBH I wasn’t worried, he played as many games as Hotton did over 2 years. We like upside.

I genuinely think he’s the trade bait as we’d rather Grlj and Farrow together over Robey but if nothing eventuates we take him and probably XT maybe Cumming. If Essendon think Robey is getting through then they have zero incentive to trade.

Hotton had a lot of runs on the board pre-ACL, and still went at 12. Holmes at 20. Robey is a tantalising prospect, but at ~7 would be higher stakes than either of those two.

He averaged 11 touches in 7 games as a bottom ager? Sure he had 3 30+ games as a top ager but Robey had far greater sample size over final year and higher level games.

Appreciate the sentiment we need mids, but you can’t turn sh!t into sugar and reaching for a Cotchin, Dusty, Bont, Ashcroft who isn’t there seems flawed - refer north Melbourne . We are bottom 4 again for 2026 & possibly 27 with ascension hopefully to follow. Stack the best talent & characters now, perhaps target a big FA next year (Butters for example), slot in Armstrong and another top 5. From the bleachers Cumming, Taylor & Robey present as ripping campaigners and happy to take any of them, and for some reason Grlj appeals.
