Cal Twomey’s Phantom Draft

Been saying for months that Cumming is the best SA prospect and here we are, he is likely to go early to Richmond.
Sharp may not slide as far as I proposed he could but he certainly has slid.

But what do I know.

Would you be happy if we took Cummings at 2? Any chance it could happen?

This year.

He got taken out of the midfield because clubs wanted to see his versatility.
So in the most critical year of his football life the Vic Country and Gippsland Power coaches yanked him out of the midfield and put him at half back? And that’s because the clubs asked for that?

Maybe the clubs see him more as a half back. Surely if they saw him as a mid they’d want to see him tested against the best in the country at the champs in that role?

I'm excited by CDT as a player, I've been fortunate to hear more about him and how recruiters see him and I don't see any reason to trade him away unless it's for a kings ransom.

If Dons want him that badly (presuming that's who they want as Robey I think gets past Tigers anyway whilst CDT wouldn't) they can can come to the table with an offer too good to refuse. Otherwise we take the golden goose.
Asking for a friend but is 'golden goose' better than a Unicorn?

Sharp played fwd at times, CDT played different roles, Reid did like wise in his draft, most players get an opportunity to show versatility during there draft year.
Can’t think of too many players coming into the AFL system and playing 20+ games as a midfielder year one. There’s one playing for us currently but he was pretty special at his draft age.

So has anyone volunteered to sit with Random tonight? He needs someone to hold his hand and coach him through his deep breathing exercises.
I'm worried about the young fella.
Thought he wasn’t watching after Twomey’s phantom came out. Won’t be complicit or some such.

Apparently a number of teams interested in moving up for Lindsey, could be an opportunity there. Especially if we do 2 for 5 and 9, could potentially trade 13 out for a future?
Geelong’s F1 would interest me. Chances are they’ll be good again next year but on the flipside we’d be buying it at 16-18 with a chance it could be better.

13 for 19 and F1? Saints F2 going back? What’s Lindsay worth to them?

Perhaps you need to stop personally attacking peoples mental health yeah?

😂

How long till you get over him calling you out for calling our Beagles team human pieces of shit?

Until he stops being hypocritical?

Pretty basic request surely...

You keep trying to catch him out, but everytime you're reaching and you just look increasingly foolish and petty.

Yes, he's said it in multiple interviews now, including the one just this morning.

The eagles draft experts will tell me why I have over tought this one, however I would think by bidding on Dean early, you are almost certainly costing yourself any chance of pick 13 coming in a pick or two to 12 or 11?

Right now, as it stands you have pick 13.. take out all other matches, as they come after this pick, simplistically thinking this pick comes in 2 by taking 9 and 11 of CFC? Well played in theory?

However, by bidding this early, CFC will now trade pick 9 and 11 to two certain users and two clubs - North and Essendon on almost the exact same list build timeline - direct competitors.

Eagles are more likely to get pick 1, 2 and 11 by NOT bidding on Dean, than bidding on him?

They will 100% not get that pick 13 higher by bidding and remain a good to great chance of it coming in one or two spots by not bidding?

Scenario 1 (Simplistic scenario where Carlton just cop it):

West Coast bid pick 1 or 2, Carlton do no trades and match.

West Coast will pick 1,2,11.... well played WC.

Won't Happen

Scenario 2:

West Coast bid pick 1 or 2, Carlton trade and match.

West Coast will pick 1,2,13.... north and Essendon 100% use those picks.

Media speculated scenario

Scenario 3:

West Coast don't bid on Dean, pick their player or bid on Patterson/Annable (or Richmond do)

Richmond pick Dean pick 6.. Carlton Match and lose 9/11 and get 22 (may stay in to get this one back).

West Coast will pick 1,2,11....

Better for Eagles - Carlton still may trade here as pick 22 is touch and go

Scenario 4:

West Coast don't bid on Dean, pick their player or bid on Patterson/Annable (or Richmond do)

Richmond don't bid Dean.. Essendon do Carlton Match and lose 9/11 and get 18 (almost certainly stay in for this pick).

West Coast will pick 1,2,11....

Best case for eagles and likely if they don't bid?

You look at the team they had and who else did they have for half back :(

I think it was good coaching.... even if it was a poor result. The coach has to try and win. Thats his job.

I see it as a positive more or less from our perspective. If someone goes to a foreign position and does well it says alot for his career longevity. THis guy is playing 250+ games. Pencil that one in alreadyd

Watch us take Tylah with whatever 13 ends up being (19?).
We may have to. I really dont want to lose him to another club. It might be why we are considering trading back with our current pick 13.

Carlton aren’t just going to cop it though, especially not with a F2 on the cards now in these deals, knowing they’ll need ammo next year.

If West Coast don’t bid and let’s say Richmond do, Carlton lose picks 9/11 (never forget) anyway and walk away with no F2. Now that that deal is explicitly on the table, why would they do that?

The concept of the Eagles benefiting by not bidding requires Carlton to make a series of inexplicably bad decisions, all in the pursuit of creating a late late late first rounder this year when they need points for next year.

What a great day for the draft.

International Men's and Boys Day.

Tonight makes up for no morning tea or baloons at work like we had for International Women's Day.
Maybe you could organise the morning tea and balloons yourself. Ya know, like the women did for International Women's Day.
