West Coast are teaching Carlton to bend over and take it like a man. It is going to be at pick 1 with Walker next year so get used to it princess.
You seem like an expert in the matter.

If it is the best thing for your club, all power to them.

I work on the principle clubs should always do what is best for them.

Bid, pick 13 is pick 13 100%.

Don't bid, varying odds on it becomes 11, 12 or 13.

What is best for eagles?

My understanding is that WC rate Dean at pick 2 and have spoken to him multiple times. So as it should be, if they rate him then bid.
Agreed, fair enough! Bid where you rate him.

However, worth considering how it effects you in remainder of draft. If 13 could become 11, does that help you?

Exactly, so WC bidding hurts any chance of pick 13 coming in?

WC Bid, pick 13 will only be pick 13.

WC don't bid, richmond bid, carlton tade and pick 13 remains pick 13.

WC don't big, richmond don't bid, Carlton may not trade.. pick 13 becomes 12 or 11.

What is best for eagles?
Carlton trade the picks regardless as a bid comes before 9.

Carlton and its fans still acting like an unprofessional club they are, looking for underhand illegal deals, being vindictive and unhinged with threats of paybacks.

we aren't looking for any favours from Carlton. what is best for WCE and Carlton is to remain professional. Something that Carlton clearly still, after 40 years of national competition, struggles with.

Bidding on Dean, it's better for the soul to **** with Carlton rather than the remote possibility of moving up our 3rd pick a place in the draft.
I see you are in the 3rd stage of grief, but bargaining with BF posters wont get you anywhere.

Potentially mind is made up.

However, don't think it is regardless of where bid is.

If bid was at 8, I highly doubt Carlton would plan to trade 9 and 11... however, that isn't going to happen, so pointless debate.

Hearing the eagles will bid Dean at 3 then Ison with our next pick at 18/19/20.

Nothing unprofessional about either club doing what is best for them in bidding/trading or matching bids.

WCE have played it perfectly putting the pressure on Carlton, only part that works against them is by bidding early they force Carlton to trade their two early picks and it doesn't bring in your pick 13.

Minor in scheme of things.

Ignoring the guarantee that our later picks come in if we bid, allowing us to match our own bids if required.

Carlton arent going to let 9 get eaten up just for the fun of it, what astonishingly bad list management that would be, especially when future picks are gold to them.

Certainly not grieving the acquisition of the best key defender in draft - I am sure you are aware, like the eagles we need a KPD.

Have also come around to the belief the Eagles may genuinely believe he is second best player in draft, so again, no need to be down on acquiring that player.

Purely a strategy question on how the Eagles could maximise their draft hand, looks like North and Essendon will pick up the two small forwards with those two picks... so if you wanted either Pickett or Dovaston, guess it costs you that.

Jesus christ dude Carlton are going to trade 9 and 11 regardless, Dean WILL get bid on before 9.

Move on

I think you are over-evaluating the strategising that goes on. In fact, you should thank WCE for informing Carlton where bid would come in. We could have kept it in house and completely screwed Carlton's plans over.

Not everything has bastardly attached to it.

If they bid came after pick 6/7, most carlton fans agree it would be worth staying in this years draft.

Won't happen, so doesn't matter now.

Purely a strategy question on what is best for eagles, bidding or not bidding. Seems fairly clear most eagles fans don't care between 11 and 13.
