Just realized the damn draft is split into two nights again so we likely wont have anything at all until tomorrow.

Yeah its only been like that for 5 or 6 years

Happy compromised draft day folks, where more kids get drafted in the 1st round (~29). Than the rest of the draft combined, where finalists have a strangle hold on the top 5 kids whilst not using 1 single top 10 pick to get them.

So excited

Possibly the most compromised draft since way back in 2023. Oh for the goog ol' days of 2024 when only a piddling 25 players were taken in the 1st round.

Coming in at 50 probably leads to a lot of our disinterest, but the top end looks generally shit house.

So if Saints were to finish 6th & West Coast bottom (which is possible) that would be a move from 13 to 19 (before compensation) to get a second rounder this year.
Still don’t think it’s a bad deal to be fair!!

The whole thing is now a contaminated joke.

Academies are killing it. Talent is not being fairly distributed and the razzle dazzle production is going to be predictable and boring, especially the top 10.

Watching 4 of the top 6 going to Queensland clubs will hardly make it a ratings bonanza.

I guess it will come down to who Dalrymple rates higher, personally I would only put J Pou, Hibbins-Hargrave and Ludowke ahead of Fincher from that list. We also have to remember our first pick is at #50 before all the other clubs match bids. Even if it comes into pick #40 the chance of one of that list being available would be very slim.

I wouldn't expect it either but since we're talking about something around a late 20's in a shit draft l don't expect the price for such will include a 1stRDP.

Problem is that pretty much neuters us in a stronger draft next year, West Coast already have our 2nd. Now if it was WC 2nd, our 2nd and 34 for the future first (maybe chuck in one of the obligatory 27 4ths we have lying around), that'd be worth considering. Not a definite yes, but worth considering.

Although there may be a fine print rule that prevents us from having our Sonny Weaver moment and getting our pick back.
