Gold Coast & Western Bulldogs have agreed to a pick swap trade.Suns will get picks 14, 33 and 53 & Dogs will get picks 15 and 29. Suns picks will crunch in and get more points for matching bids and Dogs' second pick comes in earlier while their first will be same after bids.

Nothing unprofessional about either club doing what is best for them in bidding/trading or matching bids.

WCE have played it perfectly putting the pressure on Carlton, only part that works against them is by bidding early they force Carlton to trade their two early picks and it doesn't bring in your pick 13.

Minor in scheme of things.
You've put forward your opinion on the matter numerous times now. It's been noted. Time to move on, you're boring everyone.

I think we are underselling the fact the club won't be locked into taking our tied players. I feel like they've decided for arbitrary list profile (average age) reasons they don't want to take more than 5 kids in this draft, and subsequently limited list spots.
it's a good point and makes complete sense, based off that Jamie Maddocks interview posted in the other thread, where he said they need a better balance of younger and older players.

Fair enough, open to discussion on opinions, nuance on the matter.

However if this thread isn't for draft discussion I will move on.

Good luck tonight, great hand for your lads
Mate we've simply got better things to discuss.

Like arguing who we should take between CDT and Sharp for the umpteenth time.

If they bid came after pick 6/7, most carlton fans agree it would be worth staying in this years draft.

Won't happen, so doesn't matter now.

Purely a strategy question on what is best for eagles, bidding or not bidding. Seems fairly clear most eagles fans don't care between 11 and 13.
This reeks of prisoners dilemma.

"I swear if you don't bid on Dean, Carlton will lose picks 9 and 11 and your pick will improve!"

In reality, you've already agreed to trade them and you just get Dean on the cheap.

The Eagles should bid at 3 and the Carlton should trade their picks - please move on

So in the most critical year of his football life the Vic Country and Gippsland Power coaches yanked him out of the midfield and put him at half back? And that’s because the clubs asked for that?

Maybe the clubs see him more as a half back. Surely if they saw him as a mid they’d want to see him tested against the best in the country at the champs in that role?
Some chuds can only play midfield. If Duursma is 80% as good off the back flank then the move makes sense. Also this happens with like 6-8 players in every champs team played out of position.

Agreed, fair enough! Bid where you rate him.

However, worth considering how it effects you in remainder of draft. If 13 could become 11, does that help you?
Why are Carlton supporters the only ones complaining.
We may bid on a gold coast player and we haven't heard a peep.

it is simple. At 1/2 we get any player that isn't academy/father son.
between 11 and 13 we have no control of who we end up.
hopefully a good player

Fair play to the Suns for racking up points in an even more difficult than usual class. Wonder who we go for if not Addinsall

Suns are 100% matching a bid on Addinsall

Not sure what benefit the Dogs get out of that trade

The picks between 29 and 33 will be Carlton, Sydney, Sydney which will all disappear in bid matches so 33 would become 29 anyway

And they give up 53

Smart trade by the Suns though
