I'm sorry, as far as 'talent acquisition' is concerned, we are officially now out of the period where West Lakes matters. If anything we have entered a positive period where anyone coming is coming to a new facility.

It's a really weird take.
So you don't think having a well presented and looked after facility has a positive influence on those who use it?

In previous years I'd agree. It's a ****ing embarrassment having weeds and litter everywhere as well as a dirt carpark. I'm surprised the residents haven't kicked up more of a stink at the eyesore that is the area in general.

This year though we've got something tangible to show prospective players/coaches/employees. Everyone loves a good hardhat and high vis vest tour.

I think that is extremely ignorant
Again, Hawthorn trained at Waverley during their dynasty up until now.

Geelong had a construction site as a home ground for most of the last decade.

Christian Petracca overlooked playing at AO every 2nd week in favour of playing in front of 10 adults and their children.

West Lakes didnt seem to bother Cal Ah Chee.

It's just a very strange take. We are on the verge of moving out of West Lakes.

Even if not tangible, just show the renders of what it will look like.

The point was while we might be in there in October next year, it wont be the finished product. There are still years of construction ahead, a lot of which is due to the Main South Rd works preventing future stages of our build.

The point about the size of the second oval wasnt about the recruits, it was that there are still issues and complexities being worked out for this project.

The main ground will be available together with all the buildings by October next year.

Yes, South Roadworks will still be ongoing but thats life.

If a recruit gets turned off by that then they are as soft as butter.

I hope we have a plan to move Charlie Edwards and/or Billy Dowling into the midfield group next year

Losing Crouch and Schoenberg from our depth
Two draftees as tall forwards
Ah Chee
Maley (I get he's depth, but a bit odd we went for him and then went and picked 2 KPFs in draft. Should be giving games to our draftees)
Re-rookieing Welsh (needs a MONSTER pre-season)

And not bringing in any midfielders at all after getting shown up in the finals, bit disappointing.

Is Laird heading back into the middle? So we didn't need to trade for a mid or draft one
Would not be surprised if he does.

We're pretty well stocked (or did someone say 'stacked'...) in defence, despite missing a Lachie Ash / John Noble / Rozee type of metres-gained HBF.

Milera as close as we've got I guess

The club very rarely releases that information to the public.
Yeah understand that. But with training reports posted in the past I thought a few might have been able to work out when the pre-season footy sessions go down and the best time to conveniently find yourself going past or dropping in to the Crows shop. 😉😉

I guess try and end up at Footy Park around 9:30 am most days.

I think the Thursday session is at Adelaide Oval for weeks we play at home.

Sounds like we threw the kitchen sink at Essendon to get Dyson Sharp but they didn't bite. Shame we didn't seem to have a 2nd mid target in mind when that offer fell through. We certainly need to try something different there this year or we won't go any better, Wether it's Draper or Curtin or Dowling etc we need to find an upgrade on Berry.

I never said (I don't think) that any delays with the new facility will put off potentials recruits, I said the current facility could.

I only mentioned the delay in completion because I previously wasn't aware of that, I had wrongly assumed it was all going to be done at once, I also wasn't aware the proposed MCG sized ground wasn't able to go ahead.

Some, clearly, disagree with me but I personally feel a well maintained and presented facility promotes a stronger environment and mindset and professional standards.

There is a reason why Universities, Schools and big businesses invest in their grounds and gardens

We are about to leave there in less than 12 months.

The playing group know they are leaving so pretty sure they will maintain a stronger environment internally.

There would be a minimal standard to maintain and you don’t go over the top given you will be departing it.
