I wonder if we also need more points if Williams and Banfield get bid on earlier than expected. Pick 13 might be put up for trade?
I'd keep the pick 13 and draft someone else with the late pick/s.

Picks at the pointy end are far more valuable than speculative picks.

They are not better players just because they are NGAs

Still seems ridiculous that 53 is valuable enough to make a trade like this. Throwaway pick for the Dogs but is going to be used to acquire a top 15 prospect.
I think that is more of an issue with the DVI being dynamic as the draft rolls on and not static from the start. 53 at some point will have a points value closer to 40

As bids are matched the picks Gold Coast hold progressively move up the order which increases their value.

The value they are now will be higher at the time they’re required to match the Murray and Addinsall bids

This was always going to happen which is why I was curious all the mocks had the Suns not matching. Always thought they would
Not if we wipe them out with 2&3 and they don't get a chance to come in. Even with a Patterson bid at 5 it won't be enough to match both Murray and Addinsall.

A quirk in the system where in a strange paradox, the more bids there are early on, the more opportunity you’ll have to match later bids.

Pick values should be assigned and locked pre draft. Wouldn’t be too hard to keep track of what’s what (pick 29 but has the points value of pick 33 for instance).

Simplest solution is doing away with the whole thing, next best is two picks max to match.

But I do wonder if static points value, e.g where the pick was at the start of the night before any action, is a better method? Keeps top end picks worth a mint and ensures the bottom end trash doesn’t slide up a handful and become worth far more than it should.

Even if we bid on Uwland and Patterson at 2 and 3, the Suns look like they’re gathering enough picks to generate points to match bids from us on Murray and Addinsall

I could prove it to you but it would be a rather long and boring post with lots of numbers but I have worked it through and they’re pretty much covered

If they don’t match our bid it’ll be because they didn’t want to, not that they couldn’t

You’ll see in a few hours when they match

I do like the idea of locking it at the top of the order. Shit, do both. 2 bid max and lock it at the top of the night. Don't let clubs trade in surplus picks either, keep it to list spot size. Put a squeeze on everyone. **** them all

There’s a case to make that clubs should be told they have X number of points based on the picks they hold and once they’re used up that’s it

Making it a maximum of two picks to match a bid will remove most of the current issues

Would be funny if we aren't really even that interested in Addinsall and GC are scrambling for nothing. Probably unlikely so I guess we made our interest too obvious to GC (still funny it seems to have only started following CT's mock..)

It's frustrating that it makes 2 teams's draft hands better; the team with the academy kids racking up late picks to pay unders for their player, and the team they're trading with getting a higher pick in exchange for the rubbish they were unlikely to use.

What a shambles of a system.

I'm running one of those draft simulators that does all the calcs for you, however I don't see the maths behind it so you may be right. I guess we'll see

Funnily enough the old system of next pick to match that saw Sydney get Isaac Heeney with something like pick 18 and led to the current system probably worked better

An was easier to understand

Yeah grand parents do look typical burgher but old boy not so much

Surprisingly got his height from the old man but could be mistaken for the post man boy 🤪
It happens. I used to work with this girl who had an Indonesian grandfather but she herself didn't have any Asian features and looked Irish, if anything.

My wife's Thai but our daughter takes after my side. Looks nothing like my wife's family.

Yeah I went to school with heaps of Half viet/filipino kids and heaps of them looks pur anglo.

Tho with CDT his dad is quite dark and its quite rare for bkt to have any of that colour rub off on him

True but my wife has that SE asian complexion(although not very dark) and her dad was almost black. Her brother is very dark also but her mum wasn't.

My kid's pasty white and looks like my mother. I expected the exact opposite myself. No doubt it's mine though, I guess.
