How was he not eligible for someone’s NGA with a Lankan background?
Duff-Tytler’s dad was born in Australia in 1974, just a year after his parents moved from Sri Lanka.

“Had they stayed in Sri Lanka for one more year and had dad over there, then I’d probably be NGA to Essendon,” Duff-Tytler told 7NEWS.com.au.

“My heritage is not something I know a lot about. We haven’t been over there yet, we’re looking at going over there.

“But nan and pa, when we go over to their house, it’s all of our favorite foods, really. Nan cooks up a curry, we love going over there for a bit of curry.”

great now id kill for some Sri Lankan curry for dinner.

The luck/irony the year we has a decent group of nga’s/father soms and us not being likely to bot land many of em.

Surely Tylah Williams has to ge the highest rated NGA in clubs history

Funnily enough the old system of next pick to match that saw Sydney get Isaac Heeney with something like pick 18 and led to the current system probably worked better

An was easier to understand
Much prefer the old system - yes clubs may get a bargain, but you still had to use a pick close to it, not stacking junk picks while keeping your pick - and you didn't screw every other club over in the process.

Now Sydney would have got Heeney, and kept pick 18 to use on someone else.

Round 1 should be 18 picks.

Place me in the split pick 2 camp.

I do rate C.Duff-Tytler, but still feel that it is better value for the club in its current position, to take two midfielders.

Even if Essendon offer 6 and 9; at least two from D.Sharp, S.Cumming, S.Robey, S.Grlj and J.Farrow will be available at those picks.

Package that with W.Duursma at pick 1, to accompany H.Reid and E.Hewett - and that's a very solid foundation in the middle for this rebuild.

Either way, the first 10 minutes of this draft will be instrumental to the club's outcomes for the next 10 years.

If they were that good we'd make it work. But they're not so we'll take the higher-end talent using the top picks and what we can elsewhere.

If we werent taking a mid at pick 1 already, id agree.

3 mids in the top 10 of a single draft is overkill, its over-correcting.

Still Allan, Hewett, Reid on the list as first round pick mids, adding 3 more that early is way too much. 6 first round mids when we can only really name 5 or so per game, with a couple of guys doing short rotations in there on top

Watch dogs bid on Williams a pick before ours and eaglevision crack the shits for next 5 years for allowing s to occur by giving them the very pick that allowed the move….Although I suspect he doesn’t rate willliams?

True the Duursma pick and a telstra ad are going to shake this club to its foundations.
