Hate to say it, but the Crows have really shit the bed. Instead of doing a deal with Carlton they waited to do a deal with Essendon and **** me drunk, turns out Essendon wanted him. This strikes me as such a ****ing arrogant approach that we didnt read the tea leaves. Carlton wanted out, we didnt trade, Essendon wanted in and we try and trade with them. Amateur and indefensible.
Agree. Desperate and not getting the job done

This is beyond embarrassing…4 picks in the top 20..how does the AFL even kid itself this is a fair and even draft. Every club should get the opportunity to match 1 bid in the first round..that is it (and even then that is generous). Suns will be a lock for a top 4 position for the next 10 years at the current rate..

We didn’t know for sure Sharp would be there at that pick

You don’t take chances like that pre-draft

Essendon could satisfy Carlton's need for points, we couldn't.

You do if you have a problem a decent mid would fix. great mids in that part of the draft we could have traded into. Clearly we tried a half arsed approach and we shit the bed.

yes we could. We chose not to. Had months of prep for this draft and you telling me we couldnt trade futures to bget back into this draft and then on trade those onto Carlton. We shit the bed, end of story.

And, as someone posted earlier, they gave up three firsts to get Petracca.

In this draft? The one that just had a 20 year old go in the top 12 picks and 4 academy picks?

I think it's much safer assumption that there isn't a great midfielder in this draft, then that was the hitting spot for them.

Sharp was projected to be selected with one of Essendon's early picks. Essendon might have done a Melbourne and save ourselves from ourselves given Nicks isn't a premiership coach let alone just a Finals coach. We should have traded for Melbourne's pick though if we really wanted Sharp.
