Do you seriously think Carlton didn't canvas every deal possible before selecting one? We had to make our trades early because the bid was coming at 3. We don't have the luxury of waiting like other teams and that's when clubs become desperate.

Carlton had the trade period and the two weeks after to get the necessary selections yet we badly miscalculated. That’s why we’re hoping to get lucky tonight while other clubs are killing it (some at our expense).

How did we miscalculate? How are we hoping to be lucky? How is this at all similar to Kako? Kako went after the pick the * traded didn't he? Dean went earlier.

They're only worth a pick in the 30s if a club with a pick in the 30s needs points to match a bid. Are there any of those?
