Hard to believe that supporters are still saying this after one of the worst finals midfield performances in the history of the AFL.

There's alot riding on the shoulders of young Draper and Curtin.

We are shit at developing midfielders, but we've drafted LOADS of them. Another mid to add to that group from the draft is not moving the needle

Id be giving Taylor a shot in there, showed a bit

In the SANFL? Sure.

Zac has absolutely no business being in the midfield at AFL level based on his last four years in the bigs.

Mutineer I'm sure you're getting tagged into a bunch of posts at the moment but who's on your wish list for our next pick based on how the cards have fallen so far?
Any of Talor Byrne, Riley Onley or Liam Hetherton.

Have a feel it will be Cody Curtin. Edit : Add Taj Murray to that.

1. Talor Byrne
2. Riley Onley
3. Taj Murray
4. Liam Heatherton.

If Riley Onley gets through he could be worth it at that pick as the 195cm athletic midfielder with a very decent turn of foot (2.884 20m and 98cm running vertical jump at preseson testing which would have placed him 2nd at the National Combine in both categories) He's the only mid left that Rookie Me rate his ceiling as elite.

There is no doubt we need another mid. There are a few experienced ones we might have a crack at next year which will provide more in the short to medium term than a draftee. Sanders, Bailey, who knows. Viva la Mattner thinks we are into someone decent i think. It may end up being a masterstroke keeping our F1

We keep Tex, trade in Finbar, re-rookie Welsh..... And then draft in Marsh, whilst we have TT and Fog in their primes....

??

Im just confused at this point

Honestly, seems kind of straight forward? Tex gets most of 2026 and we're setting up Marsh to have first crack at third tall in 2027. Finbar is replacing Burgess at depth and we have no idea with Welsh but aren't quite ready to give up on him.

He’s not for next year. Tex will be gone and Maley (different player anyway) on a one year deal. Welsh very unlikely to make it as well.

Absolutely an area of need.

Had more centre clearances than most of our mids in 1 QUARTER in the finals

Curtin definitely. Draper hopefully.

The other three might not even be on our list in 2027.

They might not. But they are evidence that we keep taking mids, and they keep not making it. Taking another one with a pick in the 20s in a poor draft is not changing anything
