News New Jumpers for 2026

Haha, oh, dear, so that's the anomaly year. They wore a white inverse clash from 2014 to 2022, except that 2016 premiership year. I was thinking they need to wear the home guernsey from that year full time.

😂

For all the shit late-era BLK got, I thought they nailed the colours on that Footscray home jumper. Maybe it was the dense light on Grand Final day in 2016, but the tone of that blue, cuffs and all is just tres bien.

Yeah people are buying cars every 5 years because they're not built to last anymore. I've got a 1997 VS Commodore as my daily with over 350,000ks on it and it feels brand new. These new Chinese cars only last a few years.
Something I learnt the hard way.

Now that I live in Melbourne, I don't bother with owning a car especially with insurance prices the way they are now.

Isn't that what they tried to do with Star? i remember hearing something like that but i could be wrong
Star were a joint venture between Collingwood & The Promotions Factory tpf.com.au solely to produce merchandise for Collingwood. The intention was to grow the brand into a provider for local clubs as well.
It lasted from 2013-2016.
Today, their official website doesn't work http://www.starathletic.com.au/
Though you can find some stuff through the Wayback Machine

Merch revenue works like this:
12.5% of the Wholesale price goes to the AFL as a Licensing fee.
66.6% of that goes to the club, 33.3% stays with the AFL.
Let's take jumpers as the example, because, well, I have a thing for footy jumpers.
For a $120 jumper Retail, you would expect 50% is profit for the seller (AFL Store, Rebel etc.).
So the AFL is charging 12.5% of the $60 Wholesale price, which is $7.50
Of that, Collingwood get 66.6%, so about $5 for every jumper sold.

The cost of manufacturing of the jumpers is probably somewhere near $5 per jumper in China, and perhaps double that in Australia.
Given TPF owns a Chinese factory, you can guarantee they were made there.
They were looking to get a share of the $55 difference between the Wholesale price and the Manufacturing cost.
And yet, over five years, they determined it was not worth it.
This might be because there is no brand recognition with Star Athletic.
What I do know is this, Collingwood made $7.8 Million in 2012 with adidas as apparel sponsor, and lost $2.6 Million in 2016 doing it themselves.
So it wasn't the cash cow the club were hoping it would be.

This also emphasises why it’s so important to buy your gear directly from your club. They make SFA out of anything you buy anywhere else.

Suns seemingly doubling-down on red-on-red home with clash supposedly blue-on-blue as well. Continuing with the pink design as well as charcoal inverse for gather round. Found these on the Suns page... (mock up pics - not the final product)

We are doing that charcoal based one, but only for gather round.

And the new clash will just be a blue based version of the home.

(This is confirmed, not rumoured)

What will they wear against Brisbane? The pink wasn’t great in the semi final, I’m not sure the blue will be fantastic as a clash either. Blue will obviously work against Sydney and GWS. If they made the blue one more of a baby blue, and wore with white shorts v Brisbane it’d work. I know they used to wear blue as a clash, but it wasn’t perfect, and just because it wasn’t a big colour clash, doesn’t mean it’s the best option.

They could follow the GWS model of having a special guernsey for the Q-Clash like the Giants wear against the Swans. A white jumper with pink and blue would look good, or a yellow jumper similar to the 2025 clash but with yellow or white shorts.

Am I the only one that didn't have an issue with maroon v pink here?

Essendon, Carlton and Richmond never wearing a clash jumper against us at the Gabba was much worse than the Suns wearing pink. Also all three kits the Suns had last season still clashed with GWS while the blue will provide a nice contrast.

One thing that does my OCD in with the Suns home kit is how the jumper has a red Suns logo but the shorts has a gold Suns logo. Should at least be one or the other.

Essendon in clash vs Brisbane would be worse wouldn't it?

Quite a bland range tbh. Crazy how they’re charging $70 for a normal cotton tshirt.

I’m seeing lots of boring kit being released. Even puma looks bang average this year with some weird patterns on training kits. Manufacturers need to step it up and get creative! Hawks probably the best I’ve seen thus far.
I wish they'd find a way to invert the logo on the Peril to tie back to the old guernseys. I understand the eye etc but it's not an insurmountable problem and it'll make their range a but more interesting

The grey shorts didn't help. Pink with white shorts may have been enough.

Essendon need a light silver third jumper for when they play us at the Gabba.
