Adelaide's pick was always ahead of ours. They had 48, we had 49.

But how does Adelaide have 46 if they traded their 3rd round pick away?

It’s the other way around. Crows had the earlier pick.

Not unless we gave our word and we want to keep the respect of Zac Butters. Given that we rated Watkins behind the trio we drafted in the MSD, its odd that he'd be considered as one of only two we would take in the national draft and rookie draft. We will keep one spot open for the SSP trainees.

That’s the concern I have. if Port gave their word that Watkins would be taken in the rookie draft and there are genuine sliders somehow still available, what does Port do in those scenarios?

Cripps has made it clear he doesn't rate this draft, from his perspective we just picked up a future pick for free.

Or how does GC have those picks, I would have thought they spent them on all their Academy bid matches. It's just weird.

GC would have needed some of the points from those picks from Adelaide and Port to match bids (probably Addinsall and Murray). Rather than consume the picks entirely, they just get pushed back (to reflect the reduction in points).

Unfortunately the AFL website doesn't show what pick(s) they used to match bids.
