Well mail was on point

Marsh was clubs first preference after Sharp and Dovaston

Can’t believe Essendon knocked back 2 x 1sts for pick 13
They knocked back pick 22 + a pick likely 15-20 next year for maybe the best performed junior in the country over the past 3 years. Add in that they traded up to get that pick, I would’ve been stunned if they accepted that.

That pick was available to us at that price when Carlton had it but the assumption was Sharp wouldn’t get that far. Maybe we should’ve taken the risk and traded back if he was gone but no one was trading out of next year so we would’ve just ended up with another pick this year.

In hindsight it sucks that the local kid who could easily end up being the best player in the draft slid that far and we couldn’t get him but Marsh has the tools to be elite and we still have a 1st next year in another strong year for local kids.

Based on the Marsh selection, I reckon the plan is to have Ah Chee on the Wing and Curtin a FT mid rotating forward with Dawson.

Marsh to sit under and watch Tex for a year and chop in when he has his 4-5 rests for the year to get a taste.

Sorry mate but you’ve got this one wrong.

For pick 22 in a lesser draft we nailed it.

Honestly, seems kind of straight forward? Tex gets most of 2026 and we're setting up Marsh to have first crack at third tall in 2027. Finbar is replacing Burgess at depth and we have no idea with Welsh but aren't quite ready to give up on him.
Am I the only one who sees something good in Finnbar? I think he will surprise a few people given the chance.

Surprised essendon knocked our offer back.
Why, we always wanted Sharp and we took Farrow before him as we knew the Dees didn’t want Sharp.
The deal offered by you guys sounds good ie 2x firsts but when you break it down it was effectively
Essendon trade out pick 13 and a future 2nd (pick 19-23) for pick 22 and a future 1st (pick 14-18). Not really a good pick swap at all.
I’m critical of plenty that we go but think we got this one right
Knowing the lad I’m also happy he got to where he wanted too

Our 16 became 22 yet your second would be 19-23?

Unbelievable Sharp was there at Carlton’s pick they were desperate go get out of.

Essendon got it for a bunch of picks in the 20s. Then we tried too late to jump in.

Poor list management this off season.
Just remember, ESS could also have taken Sharp with picks 7 & 8, knowing who our target was .....so we had to wait until after ESS's first two picks ....and that's not factoring in what MELB were doing with their two picks

Happy to be proven wrong but 192cm mid size fwd ?

Barker = mid
Schubert = true KPF

Think we dropped the ball

At least looks like had a fair dip at getting Sharp , Essendon wouldn’t budge
Schubert would have been a very underwhelming pick given his horrid footskills, weve already got Finbar for that.

Logan Morris is 190cm FWIW

Only narrowly outdone by Mick Ablett’s moronic analysis.
Combined with Sheehan's comments, Kayo Draft Nights are simply lovefest for every player .....no critical analysis whatsover ....it's a night to sell hope to fans

Given it's a minute behind the actual selection ...I just have Kayo on in the background, sound turned off

I’m not slowing for academy bids as I’m not sure where they sit next year but we are near certainties to finish bottom 4-5 next year whilst you guys should finish around the top 4 so it could only be 8 or 9 picks between the two. The “two firsts” thing gets thrown around by the media but they neglect to mention that this years one is a pick swap and a downgrade at that. You would give us a first and a future first but we are giving up a first and a future second.
That deal is not great at all.

Essendon would likely have taken sharp earlier if we had traded up for one of carltons picks and grabbed one of the others they did at 13. They would have known exactly why we were trading up
