Hope so, but damn I'm still fuming lol
Still don't think Robey will be a bust like others are saying to make themselves feel better. He might not be a superstar but he will make Essendon a better side.
As long as our kids make us better who gives a crap what players taken by other clubs do.

He's not slow. Takes a bit to wind up but when he does he's quick.

With Lalor and Smillie similar types we probably saw it as overcapitalising in one area at the expense of a much greater need ('from the gun' speed and agility combined with all-day endurance).

Real speed is break-away speed. Robey doesn't have that. He's fast when he finally gets going but why then, at AFL level, he will get caught or have his disposal pressured at the very least. Players like Lalor, Cummings, Gryll, Hotton and Smilie 🤞have that burst, which is another reason we chose them, not Robey.

The more I sit back and look at this I think we did take best available at our picks or atleast players with the highest upside.
We took the 2nd best midfielder Cumming in this yrs draft (sharp the best) however based on athletic traits and fwd craft has the ability to easily be the best mid in the draft. It's similar with Grlj his athleticism and disposal probably puts him at one of the next highest upside players.

A quick thumbs up for the Tigers picks so far.

Cumming and Grlj very nice selections. You needed mids and got two highly rated mids.

Would have been happy taking both at the Eagles.
You guys hung Clarke yet?

Not gonna lie feel a little smug today having the 2 players I was most keen on ending up being picked by the club, but it doesn't mean that they'll automatically be a success. Both will need to knuckle down and firstly earn their way into the 23 and then once there deliver on their potential to end up being the type of players that the clubs believes they can become.

What I liked most about them is that they are really complimentary to the mids that we already have and add a real POD to our midfield group with the extra speed they bring.

The same Jack Graham haters would have hated Robey, slow off the mark, but top speed is very good.

I come in peace. As much as I’m happy with our picks, I rate yours higher. Well done

I think both teams would be happy and have filled big needs, you guys killed it also

I've studied game theory.
Essendon had an unbelievable night to be fair to them. They made all the right calls and all the right gambles.
I was just surprised that even if our bluff on Robey was relatively obvious, it was still a risk for Essendon to potentially miss on him. Maybe they were okay to risk it as they could always fall back on Xavier Taylor, Farrow and Sharp.
The whole industry knew they wanted Robey.

We needed a 3rd party involved - Hawthorn or Melbourne showing more interest in Robey would've really strengthened our position.

Something tells me Cal the Essington nuff leaked info on Grlj to the Bombers on the day. He was fairly confident we still had Grlj in our sights.

Very happy with the Grlj pick, just annoyed we couldn't fleece a F2 out of the druggies

We are all victims of hype.

Rumous. Speculation. Popular guesses.

Blair gives away nothing so people begin to guess. Those guesses become popular. That popularity becomes expectation. That expectation gets dashed. People become disappointed.

In reality, Blair is trying to do what's best for the club by keeping his cards close to his chest. He was hoping other clubs would want to trade but that didn't eventuate (you'd be a brave club to trade with us after the North trade last year).

In retrospect, after club footage and explanation, the decisions make 100% sense. Its just doesn't meet our over-hyped guesses, that's all.

The thing I wish the AFL would allow is for clubs to create their academies off their own backs. Not just from a "we are a massive club and could clean up" POV but there needs to be some grass roots build up of the game to get kids invested.

The other reason I want it is because the AFL has all but forgotten country Australia and there needs to be some effort thrown back so AFL can have a future. Hell, I would say **** off Gather Round and have Country Round. Take the few million hit in revenue and have the clubs go to large country hubs and play. Hell, I would go off to Wangaratta or something for the weekend if Richmond played there on Country Round.
Sheeds was with ya

Could Kickett last until *61? Who’s rumoured to snap him up? I think we take this pick and just leave the other for a rookie/kellaway.
Id be worried about West Coast taking Kickett with rookie pick 1, so if there hasnt been any Kellaway bids by 61, I think we take Kickett there and take Kell as a rookie
