Keys - if this rear vision bitching continues, can we set up 2 threads? One for the moaning and complaining and one for the forward outlook of day 2

You want people to stop talking about what's likely to be the most consequential single day of our rebuild less than 24 hours later?

Just keep scrolling if you don't like the comment my man.

I have zero idea what the plan is because they havnt outlined the plan

Did you really think in July we would have drafted 1 midfielder, 1 Utlity, 1 half back at the same time as trading in a half back all the while losing Liam Ryan and Campbell Chesser?

I guarantee if I go back most thought we would take 3 mids atleast and then not lose Liam Ryan and Campbell Chesser for a combined pick 40 in reality...
I think it's fairly clear that the club didn't rate the midfielders available where we could pick overly highly. I think that's probably fair.

As i've said multiple times it all comes down to adding a gun mid in next years draft and Warner the next, and hoping that some of those we do have on the list become solid AFL mids who can support Reid, Duursma, 2026 draftee, and Warner, and hopefully at least one of Hewett, McCarthy, etc., makes the jump into the top tier.

Threes games before the end of the year Chesser was going to be gone for nothing and Liam Ryan is finished as a player and shouldn’t have been worth more than pick 40..
Lindsay will have a better afl season next year than Ryan that’s for sure

Williams will take ages to come on... Cut our losses and let him go if he attracts a bid... I'm not even sure he will.
Not sure what to do with Banfield/Evans... We might have to let one go... And pick the other with our last pick.
Dumb list management for the second year in a row

Haha I lived in St Kilda for years so I have a soft spot for them. Still loved watching us beat them this year though. Was very kindly gifted a ticket from AsterixTheGaul and sat with him and Keys. Was a great afternoon.

My son wanted to leave halfway through the last and I refused said request.

First win he's seen live after being born in glorious 2018. He'll thank me when he's older.

Not keen on Williams at next pick.

Don't want to pick a slow, average user, i.e. Greeves, FRod, Swadling etc

My pick would be NHH, but suspect Bulldogs will take him before us.

Everyone knew they were going to match.

Their late trading actions indicated that apart from the common perceptions of the industry.

Does our professional trading team live in a cave?

The ineptitude just goes on and on.
The presumed assumption is that they were getting points to match Coulson and not go into deficit.

Clearly that wasn't the case.

Interesting comment from Twomey on the the live AfL broadcast after the Gws pick swap

Along the lines of club value 2nd round picks highly during the trade period but then hand it over like confetti during the draft period due to targeting players

It's funny when other clubs do dumb things though.

GWS will probably be able to load up on Academy players next year too, so it matters far less to them. Like Gold Coast trading away two top 10 picks for Petracca and still being able to draft two top 5 picks, plus another two first rounders.

We can't afford to waste picks the way they can.
and we don't have academy players next year?

Yep, he said that after the GWS pick swap, IIRC.

This is the best i could come up with on how Gold Coast matched the bids.
GC won’t be in deficit as they still have some pics with points value in this draft.

Assume you’d have to burn all of them before going into 2026 stock.

Yep, let's let a club use 14 picks to match 4 kids, despite only having what, 5(?) list spots?

Absolutely should not be allowed to use 6 picks to match a bid, 2 at best.

The trade off being that if you can access at the pointy end and still have to take your allocation of list changes, you either promote rookies, or you have to pick up whoever is left in round 5.
