So there's still some interesting prospects available. I wouldn't expect Norf to bid on Ison and I would've thought a KPD such as Threadgold would suit the Doggies down to a tee.

If there are no bids on Ison before Pick 28 who would you like:
  1. Riley Onley 195cm Balanced Mid
  2. Louis Emmett 199cm Key Forward/Ruck
  3. Jevan Philipou 183cm Forward/Mid
  4. Matt LeRay 188cm Utility
  5. Hunter Holmes 186cm Wing/Midfielder.
Matt LeRay - All Australian U18 Wing Selection. Plenty of scope for development and expansion of game. Dual sided and can just about be played anywhere. Like Cripps he's prepared to put in the work to get the best out of himself. Good leadership qualities.

Hunter Holmes - Quick and runs all day. Needs to develop some power and strength through the core to survive at AFL level, but if the club is prepared to be patient for that to occur over a couple of preseasons, he could prove to be just as effective as his brother.

Louis Emmett - Solid KPF/Ruck prospect. Attacks the ball in the air and has good leading patterns. Knows what he's trying to achieve whether as a forward or ruck. Will depend where the club sees his ceiling is. I like him better than Ludowyke.

Jevan Phillipou - Dual sided, quick, strong hands and has X-Factor. Is what I'd call a high-impact per possession type player. Defensive side of his game is non-existent though.

Riley Onley - Powerful tall mid with explosive acceleration out of the stoppage. Needs to improve his endurance to take his game to the next level. More of a balanced mid than and inside mid. Plenty of upside here if he's prepared to do the work. Of all the prospects I've mentioned here, Onley is definitely a project type.

This is a good point but could have been managed by creating list spots in other ways such as not signing McGovern or delisting or paying out players we no longer require such as Boyd or Fogarty.
Agree on McGovern, dont agree with early delistings and payouts unless absolutely necessary (we did it with Holland's).

I think the point is that I'd like the list management team to be a bit more strategic about which players they lock in and the number of players out of contract at any point in time.

South Australian defender Blake Thredgold right in North Melbourne's mix if they hold at opening pick tonight. Carlton considering trading back again from pick 28 even though bid for Jack Ison won't precede it. Louis Emmett, Marcus Krasnadamskis among Dogs' options.

Next year, at this stage, we'll have 19 players OOC. IMO, we need at least 2 signed asap (Walsh, O.Hollands), with some others re-signed/ reviewed in season. Some key decisions on some others, but I reckon there'll be scope in next year's draft for this...

I heard Cody Walker did his ACL out for all next yr 😜🤷 so bid want be till late in the first round 🤣

The key difference is that CD doesn't talk giberish in front of the camera. Never felt reassured that Lloyd knew what he was doing.
I think you should go to the Port board and see what they have to say about CD😉🫣

Take a breath bud.
That’s fine let’s pretend Austin is doing a great job after inheriting a team with a base of Cripps, McKay, Curnow, Weitering, Walsh, Dekoning and Newman all about to hit their peak, a tonne of cap space and after 6 off seasons in charge we are back to being a bottom 6 list.

Austin has now had 6 off seasons in charge our 5 best and most important players when it comes to winning games were all recruited under the list management team, that’s simply not good enough.

So I assuming if this is right we will get another pick next year and have someone like Toby Murray in mind much later or has the player we wanted at 28 already gone?

Surely you'd be picking up the phone to the Saints to try and work something out for Philippou.

28 and North F2 for Saints 26 F1? Someone mentioned that earlier and it might make some sense.

Would love that. Although if Saints were willing to trade an F1 for Phillipou with an F2 coming back, youd assume somebody would have taken it by now.
