If we get BVR for a late 2nd rounder id be content. Highly unlikely though as we will be busy matching bids after the first round next year id imagine

I just dont see a list need for either of them at this stage, now we have Archer and CDT- assuming we use Archer as a ruckman obviously.
Flynn or BW will still be needed for a few more years at least as cover and to handle the #1 ruck spot anyway
Both Archer and CDT are quite prospective as to if they can be the no.1 ruck long term.

We had Flynn, Williams, Archer, Livingstone and Barnett on the list this year, so one or both of Flynn/Williams, Archer, CDT and one of van Rooyen/Walsh fits easily.

Coz we've used up all our regular list spots and only have rookie list spots left - where we can move academy and F/S if they go undrafted tonight without the need to use a pick. Hence the dismay about not moving Cripps to the rookie list allowing us more flexibility.

(Correct me if I'm wrong draft poindexters)
We have 2 main spots left.

The cry about Cripps was in the case 3 of our linked players get bid on.

If you want to see how far Footy in Queensland has come and especially the Gold Coast the Southport sharks are about to launch into a 500 million dollar redevelopment of their facilities including a 21000 seat oval for their vfl team. They dwarf any wafl club in finances and are the most competitive non aligned side in the vfl…

The suns academy will just keep getting stronger
Who is paying the $500 million? Probably the AFL are paying a big chunk of it despite the fact they won't put a single dollar in here.

I still don't understand the reasoning behind 4 picks in the ND and don't think anyone has explained it? Does that mean we could take 5 extra rookies instead?
Main list can be 36-38 players. If we choose to have 37 on our main list, 1 extra rookie can be added to the rookie quota.

We have 5 main list spots open but we can choose to only use 4 and then use that 5th spot in the rookie draft or as a train on player.

Exactly why we should throw a dart. Was top handful of the best performed player in the country this year.
How good could he be if we patched a few areas and got his endurance base right.

The lack of endurance is not the biggest concern, he is so slow that the speed of AFL will eat him alive.

He will regularly be caught HTB and when he's not they will be dump kicks.

Was it that we didn’t expect that they would match, or didn't realise that they could match?

One is an understandable misjudgment, the other a total bungle.

Wouldn't expect they would match, he isn't going to get a game with them anytime soon.

Appreciate your intel very much.
WC realistically put a high price on pick 2 and didnt get the bite from ESS they were expecting, thats ok.
Then ESS pick 9 which became 13 where several clubs tried to trade up to get Sharp including ADE with their 1st and F1st and assuming WC had a crack was too high a price and not going to happen if I am reading this correctly?

I'll put this up with some confidence, even if Sharp was available at our 3rd pick I am not sure we would have taken him.

Interesting - Cal and others suggested we’ve considered him throughout the year. If you are able, may I ask why we wouldn’t have taken him? Low ceiling type? Footskills? Off field stuff?

Thanks as always pants for the intel.

There can't be that much money in a few pokie machines. There must be AFL or Qld state government money involved too.
So I decided to waste my time to look into it instead of working and here's what I found.

  • At this stage, the project is privately being funded by the club(they have 55k members) as well as private investments.
  • The project also includes the residential towers, which is likely where the majority of the cost is going, not the stadium.
  • The club's looking for the Qld government to invest in the ground upgrade so they can use it for events at the Brisbane Olympics.
  • The club averages an estimated $47m per year in revenue(nearly 50% of that, $22m, being gambling revenue). The rest is made up from Food & Beverage, the attached hotel(Mantra) and membership fees.

I won't publicly say.

Based on nothing other than my own opinions, I reckon he doesn't suit the game plan Mini is trying to implement.

Or maybe he blew vape smoke in Massey's face, or something.
