Cheers, in the draft crew Massie we trust then.
Seems WC didn't rate anyone of the top mids in this draft.

I suspect we have rated Cumming somewhere in the 1st round with his more explosive traits but RICH came hard and left us with no chance at pick 13 to get a high quality mid.
J Murray & Addinsall being next best?
Richmond certainly came hard for Cumming.

There can't be that much money in a few pokie machines. There must be AFL or Qld state government money involved too.
Theirs is state and federal government money also afl with female facilities but the club is still flying a large portion of the bill.
The club there is open 21 hours a day 7 days a week and has no trouble pulling in patrons at any hours.

The facilities make any wa football club look like a Sunday country level …

If i remember correctly from that movie, the ken doll in that gif ended up telling them....everything.

If you want to see how far Footy in Queensland has come and especially the Gold Coast the Southport sharks are about to launch into a 500 million dollar redevelopment of their facilities including a 21000 seat oval for their vfl team. They dwarf any wafl club in finances and are the most competitive non aligned side in the vfl…

The suns academy will just keep getting stronger
Based on Pokies revenue ?

That leaves:
  • Jevan Phillipou
  • Oliver Greeves
  • Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves
  • Archie Ludowyke
  • Blake Thredgold
  • Fred Rodriguez
If we ended up with one of Poo, Greeves or Fred we'd be pretty damn happy IMO
Using this list, where would the draft watchers slot in Williams and Banfield. Both bringing up the rear?

Looking at that the most likely suitors to trade 29 for a F2 would be Adelaide, Brisbane or Fremantle

Hopefully the Crows desperately want a Poo
Pie in the sky shit but what else is draft week for?

Crows finished first, we finished last, can we twist the arm and say lads the gap between your F1 and F2 looks to be minor, go on.

My maths has us available to take 3 picks (if we choose).

37 on main list last year, 8 have come off, 6 on so far. That leaves 3 spots available to get up to the maximum 38.

I might be missing something in relation to holding extra rookie spots though...

My best guess is you haven’t taken into account the promotion of either Maric or Dewar to the main list - they’ve both been elevated

We definitely only have 2 main list spots left

This is pretty much bang on.

My list is:
  1. Jevan Phillipou
  2. Oliver Greeves
  3. Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves
  4. Archie Ludowyke
  5. Max King (Swans)
  6. Blake Thredgold
  7. Jack Ison (Blues)
  8. Louis Emmett
  9. Fred Rodriguez
We can assume Emmett is non-starter due to CDT and next year's talls.

That leaves:
  • Jevan Phillipou
  • Oliver Greeves
  • Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves
  • Archie Ludowyke
  • Blake Thredgold
  • Fred Rodriguez

Jack Dalton seems to be missing from any discussion. Though his speed would be of interest to Mini's game plan.

Assuming a bid on Williams doesn’t come before pick 29

Are we better drafting a player with that pick from the names that have been discussed or finding a buyer willing to part with their 2026 R2 pick?

1) Player X + Williams (match with pick 34) and hope Banfield and Evans get through

2) 2026 R2 + Williams (match bid with pick 34) + Banfield (bid or no bid) and hope Evans gets through

Option 2 would also leave a rookie spot to fill with either Wes Walley, pick 1 in the RD or left option for a train on player assessment

My own preference would be option 2 provided it’s a F2 as a minimum because it guarantees us the ability to match a late Banfield bid who I personally don’t think is that far behind the players available at 29. It also replaces the F2 we traded last night and another list spot to consider our options with

Walk out with
• Duursma
• Duff-Tytler
• Lindsay
• Williams
• Banfield
• Evans
• TBA
• Still have all our 2026 picks plus an extra R2 pick to replace the now defunct Saints Death Ride Thread

Twenty four hours ago o would have taken that no questions asked
I’m taking both the picks Keys. 2Rs next year would be for matching only. 29 gets us one of:

Jevan Phillipou
Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves
Blake Thredgold
Louis Emmett

All are far superior to any of our kids.

34 gets us one of the above four (unlikely) or one of:

Riley Onley
Oliver Greeves
BOB
Jack Dalton
Fred Rodriguez

All of which are superior to our kids.

Take sentiment out of it. Don’t match any bids, although it would kill me if Charlie got a late bid and would demonstrate diabolical list management.

I don't understand how one club (i.e. Gold Coast), who finished in the top 6, can have enough "points" to match 4 bids in the top 17 of a draft? How does this ridiculous points system work? Is pick 50 and 52 equal to pick 5 or something and they just went around hoovering up a bunch of late picks the other clubs didn't want and that then translated into enough "points" for 4 top 17 players?

I know I am a broken record on this but... remove the10% discount & introduce a surcharge (higher for top 10 & 1st round bid matching)

Crows F2 seems too light. I would be pushing them for their F1 with our F2 going back. Hell, I would consider Doggies F4 to sweeten it.

Crows F1 is likely to be 16-20 range while our R2 is likely to be 22-28 range. There is a world that Crows F1 could be low teens.

Disagree on this list being better than our club tied - I am taking Banfield before all bar BOB.

I am also not wanting Greeves under any situation. Does not run hard defensively. His knock knees will be shown up at the next level in speed and running capacity.

Fair - you have far better knowledge on those players than I do so I won’t argue with that assessment

We wait to see what the club does I guess

Gimme option 2, though I could be convinced on skipping Williams and taking a slider.

Missing Banfield would be really annoying though so keep a spot available imo

Dalton is in my next handful of players.

Kye Fincher
Hassien El Achkar
Matt LeRay
Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier
Rory Wright
Jack Dalton
Sam Swadling
Riley Onley
Koby Coulson
Talor Byrne
Toby Whan

At this point in the draft you can throw a blanket over everyone TBH.

I don’t want Greeves either, but in my view he is a better player and would almost certainly be in our thoughts this late.

I know you love Charlie and we rate him differently. If Saints did offer the F1,40 for F2,29 and no bid on Charlie I’d find it hard to say no to that.
