Barker & Holmes was the combo I wanted. Speed / endurance. Built for the modern game.

Interesting to see how Holmes develops, he certainly has the elite athleticism. Only, I've see a few games where it's a negative when he has the ball in his hands. Not sure it can be fixed given there's a composure and decision making issue there IMO.

It does bring into question whether you’re better off delisting a Coffield type with an openness to picking them back up depending on how the draft unfolds.

I dont think that Busslinger will see a lot of time at Footscray next year.

Gardner is the perfect kind of solid citizen to help with the development of the likes of Walker, Emmet, Will Darcy and even Croft if as most suspect he is seen as a KPD. Having said that who knows where any of these guys end up playing over the next few years.

That’s the exact opposite of Beverage’s mantra. All players on the list have a chance of playing round 1, including Emmett, no way Bussingler is a lock. Internally is not rated as high as what people think although oh course will work hard with him. Competition is good. You need to tap into the players give hope to all on the list.

Did you trade out of the draft in one mock?

Traded out of the first 2 rounds ended up with saints first next year and Melbourne's second. Drafted the K-man and Avery Thomas at the back of the draft.
I definitely dont call it a crap draft but an even draft that has alot of boom or bust types, which is why we've seen alot of guys rated highly publicly slip through.

The only thing I can think is that with 2 x FS and 2 x NGA potentials next year (to say nothing of Butters) we may be needing to have a heap of list openings in 12 months time. You can delist Coffield in 12-months while still getting some ready-to-go coverage in 2026 but you can’t do that with a draftee.

Will be interesting to see how they all develop. We (fans) spent a lot of this year wondering if Kobe Williams was going to nominate us or the Hawks and he won’t end up being on a list at all.
