Has a player ever been delisted and redrafted in the national draft by the same club in the same year?

I’d be surprised if the AFL don’t close that loophole.

I feel we did it with Jason Blake at least once, maybe even twice?

No offence, I'd rather take a chance on an unknown who happens to be a kitten killer (which clearly Ollie Greeves is, to have not been taken) than Byrnes.

I would say the recruiters know a bit more about Greeves compared to Byrnes than anyone on here.
Whats the piont of someone we dont need just because you want a shiney new toy.

Sounds like greeves really must have failed the character test. Very surprised player ranked in the teens has slipped this far.

Is he the slow, plodding type?

Big bodied, slow midfielders that can't transition are pretty out of favour at the moment

Redrafted our 37th best player... oh yay... not the draft I'd hoped for but over it already.

17 games this year, 15 last year, 20 the year before. They obviously see him as more than the 37th player. He's a mature body workhorse and every side needs a few mortar lines to hold up the bricks. He's a jack of all trades master of none soldier. I see the appeal.

I hadn't realised Byrnes has played 80 games.

That's a better career than what most players people are wishing we picked up instead will have.

With our goal being to make finals, there is worse depth to have on the list then a guy who gives his all and will play any role.

Well Im rapt we got Fincher who deserves his spot on the list.

Banfield is a tall 192cm midfielder who looks raw and a really late developer so he could be another Dalrymple special. For me his biggest strength is his over head marking, he is an exceptional mark for a midfielder.

Byrnes is a Lyon classic in the Eddy mould, works his arse off for the team.

I gather we just relist Patrick Said to the rookie list tomorrow and we are done.

Im a bit surprised we didnt find a way to grab another tall eg Ludowke, Hetherton or Ainsworth but I guess the club have their reasons.

Not sure Byrnes is worth the melts, we said we’d take him in the national draft.

I wanted Ludowyke after watching his interview on gettable earlier in the year, seemed like a good young kid.

Bit of a boring draft for us, if the West Coast board reaction is anything to go by… Banfield might turn out alright!
